The multiverse can be funny. One version of you could be born on an Earth doomed to become a second Apocolypse, while on another Earth you could never have existed. It's funny how one small change can create an entirely new reality.
"Well, another day in paradise." I said as I put my earbuds in and ran toward the edge of the building and jumped off landing on a Parademon, I stabbed a knife into its head and used that to guide my descent. When I landed I started sprinting and threw a knife or two into any Parademons that crossed my path careful not to let them swarm me. "Larter uglies." I said as I snapped activating the runes on the knives causing them to explode in various elements before taking off again.
"I'm home!" I announced as I entered what remained of the Whitehouse. "Welcome home sweetie, you were gone longer than usual. I was starting to worry." Mama said as I walked into the next room and saw my mother.

"Yeah the Parademons got to my usual spot, but I got the groceries!" I said happily, "Such a reliable son I have. You're only six and you're so brave and strong." she said as she kissed my head before taking my bag, "I remember when you were just a baby in the rubble of that hospital, you didn't cry at all even when I picked you up. I don't think you've ever cried once in your life." she said as she began to make dinner, "Is that bad Mama?" I asked, "No, not at all. It just makes you, you." she said as she used magic to keep cooking while she walked away, "And I love you more than anything." she said as she kissed my head, "Smells like dinner's almost done. Go get cleaned up." she said sweetly, "Ok Mama!" I said as I ran to get cleaned up.
Zatanna POV
It hurt me so much to look at my son knowing that tomorrow would hopefully be the last time I will ever see him, "I'll save him. Even if it kills me." I said.
"So (y/n) I was gonna head to the Smithsonian tomorrow. There are a few things there that I need for a spell, hopefully, they aren't broken too badly." I said, "What kind of spell?" (y/n) asked, "Don't worry about it, it's just a protection spell." I said sweetly.
(y/n) POV
The next day I went with Mama to the museum, but it was swarming with Parademons. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified, "Mama we should just go home." I said, "We can't. If I don't cast this spell now then...my magic is at its strongest thanks to the eclipse. Let's go!" Mama said as she ran into the museum killing all the Parademons in her path. I followed her inside and helped her gather items for her spell. "It's time. (y/n) get in the circle." Mama said as she drew a spell circle with the rib of a T-Rex, and used magic to place various items around the circle. "M-Mama this spell...Mama get in the circle. Please, Mama!" I begged as the circle began to glow and created an impenetrable barrier around me, "MAMA!" I said, "This is what's best for you!" Mama said, suddenly a Parademon plunged its arm through my mother's stomach, she quickly killed it and began her spell. "Dnes ym nos ot rehtona dlrow ho lla-lufrewop secrof fo eht enacra, dnes mih ot a dlrow erofeb eht dne fo syad!" Mama chanted, "I'm sorry sweetie, looks like you had to watch me die. This spell. It'll send you back in time before the apocalypse. Save the world, my love." she said as she leaned against the wall as magic lightning rained down upon me while I watched as Parademons swarmed her and tore her limb from limb, "MAMA!" I cried.
I woke up in an alley alone, I could tell that I was younger and smaller. "Mama." I cried, "Hello there are you alright little boy?" a woman asked, "No." I cried, "Where's your mother?" she asked, "D-Don't know." I said, "Well my name is Lois Lane. I'll help you find your mom." she said as she helped me up. "I can't believe that any mother would leave her baby alone like this." she said softly.
"Well we didn't have any luck today, but tomorrow I'll take you to the police and let them help look." Lois said, "I know you must be disappointed that we couldn't find her, but you'll have a nice home-cooked meal and a nice warm bed for tonight." she said as we drove to her house.
"Clark, you home?" Lois said as she put her keys, purse, and jacket away, "I'm in the kitchen!" a man said as he peeked out of the kitchen, "Uh Lois, who's kid is that?" Clark asked, "Superman?" I said, "What? No, I'm not Superman, I wish I was, but I'm just boring old Clark Kent." he lied before I grabbed a pen and paper. I drew a series of runes as Lois and Clark peeked over my shoulders. "ELVERA!" I shouted causing Clark's true identity to be revealed by magically creating his symbol on his chest. "How did you know?" he asked, "Met before." I said, "We've never met kid. But you don't seem to be lying, so I'll take you to see a friend who can help us get to the bottom of this." he said.
"This is your solution? A magic show with a two-drink minimum?" Lois said as we walked inside, "And for my next trick, I'll make these terrible tigers as cute and cuddly as kittens!" a woman said as mana gathered in her hands.

"Found you." I said softly as tigers pounced on her making the crowd gasp and some people screamed, but I knew she was alright, and seconds later the tigers poofed into tiger-striped kittens. "Wow, can you do that?" Lois asked, "Maybe." I said.
"So what do I the pleasure?" Mama said as we entered her dressing room, "MAMA!" I cried as I hugged her, "Uh...who are you?" she asked, "His name's (y/n) I was helping him look for his mother, and apparently that's you." Lois said, "Ok, there's one way to get to the bottom of this. Sweetie, would it be alright if we looked at your memories? I pinkey promise that it won't hurt at all. You can even hold my hand if you want, anything to make this a pleasant process for you." Mama said I nodded and held her hand while she drew a sigil, "Seiromem Tcejorp." she said as the sigil glowed projecting my memories, but I was in control of what they could see since I knew how the spell worked, I was so happy to see Mama again so all my memories of her. "N-No stop!" I cried as the memory of my mother's death began to play, but Lois wiped off the sigil, "I think we've seen enough." Lois said, "I agree. Hey, this is the first time I've seen you cry." Mama said as she dried my tears. "If it's alright, I'll be taking custody of him. I sent him here it's only right that I take responsibility." she said, "I couldn't agree more, but Auntie Lois will stop by every now and then." Lois said sweetly before she and Clark left. "Geese kiddo you could use a bath, but don't worry, 'cause Mommy makes bath time magical." Mama said as she picked me up and teleported us to her home.
"Alright wait here while I get the bath ready." Mama said as she put me down, I decided to put up a barrier Mama taught me to use since it didn't look like one was up. I began to draw on the door when my nose began to bleed and my vision blurred. I got really dizzy and fainted.
Zatanna POV
"Ok, the bath is ready." I said as I went to retrieve (y/n) and saw him unconscious on the floor, his nose was badly bleeding and he looked like he was having a seizure, and under normal circumstances, I'd assume that was what this was, but he was drawing a rune for a barrier. "He has mana poisoning! If I don't do something he'll die!" I said, "Laeh flesyht!" I said casting my spell temporarily healing (y/n). "What did I do? Why would I do this to my son?" I asked myself as I petted (y/n) while he slept in my lap. "I promise you, I'll be a better mother than I was, I swear. Should I break my word, I shall take my own life." I said softly.
