Toxic Love

December 16-17,1978

"Dad, why do we have to move?"
"Because we do."
"But why?"
"Shush"
"Just answer the question, dad."
"No, just get in the car,"
"But -"
"What did i just say?"

I roll my eyes and I grab my bag and a box, and I walk outside I put the Box in the back of the car and I get in the car and I grab my notebook and pencil and I draw.

About 20 minutes later, my dad walks out and puts the rest of the stuff in the car, and he walks over to the driver's side . He gets in the car and pulls out the drivers side

"Can I say bye to Billy before we leave?"
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"Because I said so."
"Dad, please -"
"Shhh,"
"But -"
"What did I just say, shh"

I roll my eyes, and I stay quiet, and I continue drawing.

The next morning around 10:00 we get to Indiana and standing there is my uncle Elijah standing there waiting

"Kolton, grab your stuff and go inside."
"Ok?"
My dad tells me, looking at Elijah pissed off, I grab my bag, and I get out of the car

"Hi, Uncle Elijah,"
"Hello Kolton,"

I grab a box and my bag and I walk inside I claim a room and I sit on the floor of the room then after I stare off into space for a while I get up and I go to the phone

"Hello?"
"Hey, max is Billy available?"
"Yea, one second,"

I hear her scream for Billy, and I hear him

"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Kol. I just wanted you to know I moved -"
"Yea, I know."
"Wait, how?"
"Your mom came over and told us,"
"Oh, are you mad? You sound mad. "
"No, im not mad,"

He sounds mad

"Are you sure?"
"Yea, whatever, but I have to go."
"Okay, bye -"

He hung up
Why would he do that? I didn't do anything it wasn't my choice, but mom had to say something. I turned around, and she's standing there

"Who were you talking to?"
"Just Billy mom,"

I roll my eyes and I walk off, I go to my room and my bed is already set up cool I guess I didn't even hear them walk in but whatever, I get into some more comfortable clothes and I lay down and fall asleep about an hour later I'm in the kitchen getting a drink and someone starts banging on the door I grab and chair and I stand on it to see through the peephole and its two boys, one with brown hair and a blue coat with the hood on and the other boy had black hair with a grey beanie and a black sweatshirt on I move the chair away from the door and I open the it the cold air from outside waking me right up, the brown haired boy smiled at me

"Hi."
"Hi?"
"I'm Steve, and this is my cousin Derek,"
"Okay,"
"Whats your name?"
"I don't give my name to strangers, sorry."
"We aren't strangers, though."
"To me, you are."
"We don't have to be, I live across the street so we can be friends."
"I don't really like to make friends, since we move a lot."
"Well, from here, we are friends. You have no choice."
"Whatever, Steve"

I shut the door, and I walk upstairs to get a jacket, and I walk back downstairs waiting for mom to get home.
