When Midoriya woke up today, he knew that today was gonna be a bad day. Today was his mom's death anniversary. She had died from cancer two years ago. And since he had no relatives, he lived in streets or home shelters. The Bakugou's were well aware of this but never helped him, too busy with their own shenanigans that they couldn't afford to take him in.

Today felt like he was drowning in an endless ocean. The weight on him was unbearable. Either way, he knew he couldn't miss today. He had an exam with Aizawa today right after homeroom. So he got up, wiped his newly drawn tears, and got ready.

He looked at himself in the mirror as he changed into a public bathroom. He looked horrible. Dark eye bags, dull eyes, wrinkly uniform. He sighed and walked out with his stuff aka the neon yellow bag.

Midoriya soon reached UA and walked to his class. As soon as he opened the door, chaos filled his ears. It was too much. He winced and walked to his seat. He immediately put his head down in his arms and hoped his teacher would come soon to quiet everything down.

...

Aizawa knew the second he walked into the classroom, something was up with his #1 problem child. He had his head down, he wasn't cheery as usual and looked like absolute garbage. What had happened to him?

Aizawa sighed and walked towards the podium. The class quiet downed and went to their seats hastily before Aizawa could be mad at any of them. Aizawa arranged the papers and looked at the class that they had a test to complete. So instead of starting homeroom, he decided that they could start early.

"Alright. Homeroom is canceled. You will be taking a test early.  Grab your pens and papers and hand in your devices. And grab the test while you're at it," he informed them. The class groaned at what they had been told yet obliged. Aizawa gave them permission to start and everyone.

He had gotten a good look at Midoriya. He looked like he hadn't slept well. It reminded him of his high school years at U.A. The boy was clearly not in any condition to take the test.

He sighed and walked up to the boy's desk. He got a few odd looks from students but the glare told them to mind their own business. He crouched in front of the boy and gently talked to him.

"Midoriya, kid. You alright?" He asked in a gentle manner. Midoriya looked at him and nodded. Aizawa clearly took that as no and motioned him to get up. Midoriya was confused but followed Aizawa out of the classroom, his legs wobbling.

"Um... Mr. Aizawa, where are we going?" He asked.  Aizawa looked at him and just shrugged, saying a quick, "To my office," and continued walking. Midoriya nodded and followed him.

Why were they going to his office? Was he in trouble? Did he do something wrong? Was Aizawa going to find out? Was he gonna ask him about his life? Was he-

Aizawa sighed as the kid continued to mumble to himself. He stopped and placed his hand on the boy's shoulder. Midoriya flinched and looked at him with teary eyes. Aizawa rubbed his shoulder softly in a calming manner. Midoriya visibly relaxed as he was reassured.

"Kid, you aren't in any trouble. You're my number one problem child. I just want to have a little chat with you. Don't worry kid, it's nothing bad," he reminded him in a bit of a stern manner. God this problem child always worries about little things.

They walked into the office. It was surprisingly organized and had a luxurious view. There was a couch just on the wall, a desk in the back of the room, and decor everywhere. Midoriya's eyes showed with delight and tears as they walked it. It smelled like lavender. It was comfortable

Aizawa led him to the couch and took a seat in front of him on the other couch in front of Midoriya.

"Problem child. You don't look ok," Aizawa said trying to get to the main point quickly.

"Mr. Aizawa I'm fine. Just a bit tired today," he responded trying to play it off. But it was clear he was faking it. Sweat rolled down his face and he was playing with the hem of his button shirt.

"Kid, it's ok. No one's gonna judge you ok? It's just me and you here. Are you ok with me touching you?" He asked and slowly moved closer to the boy. Midoriya nodded as he started tearing up. Aizawa sat beside him and pulled him into a long-needed hug. He teared up and hid his face in his teacher's shoulder as tears slowly rolled down his face, getting soaked up by Aizawa's shirt.

Aizawa rubbed the boy's back soothingly, causing more tears to slip out of the boy, and at a rapid pace and a sob escaped his mouth.

Look what you're doing now. Ruining his shirt.

You are so weak. Can't even hold back tears. Why don't you just go kill yourself and join your mom and don't bother anyone?

You're just a Deku either way. Stupid idiot.

Your mom died all because of your stupid needs. She got sick and you were too busy to not even know. Stupid Deku.

You're just a Deku.

A Deku..
..Deku..
..Deku..
..Deku..
..Deku..
..A fricking Deku..

Little did Midoriya know that his thoughts were said out loud. Midoriya wailed, failing to suppress his historical sobs. They were right... He is a Deku.

Meanwhile, Aizawa's eyes were wide. The boy's mom was dead? He knew the boy had no relatives, his father working overseas so the only place he could be living right now is probably the streets.

Aizawa hugged the boy tighter, and gently pet his hair, whispering reassuring words to him, like 'I've got you kid.' or 'You're ok.. you're ok..' and eventually after a while of crying, the boy calmed down. He was curled up by Aizawa's side and the man hadn't said anything and just held the boy. What surprised him was when he started speaking.

"Mom passed away f-from cancer two years ago on this day...I just- I don't know anymore! It's all my fault. If I hadn't been there to bother her every day she would've never gotten sick," Midoriya sniffled out, tears returning. Aizawa held him tighter and let the boy continue speaking.

"I've been surviving on the streets or in shelters. I had nowhere else to go. Ever since I got my quirk, which was, that's the only thing that's been keeping me alive. My friends.. this school. Otherwise, I would've been dead. I just, it's too much Mr. Aizawa... I-I need help," The boy was again.

He finally asked for help. He finally did.

"Kid, I'm so sorry for your loss first of all, second, it was never your fault. She could've gotten cancer from anything. I'm so sorry this happened to you, but kid, you can't be living out in the streets," Aizawa paused. Midoriya sniffed and look at him with glossy eyes, "Do you wanna stay at my place? I have an extra room and Mic won't mind either," Midoriya was in shock, but immediately turned to confusion.

"Mic? As in Present Mic?" He asked confused. Aizawa nodded and Izuku's eyes widened, muttering "I knew it..". Aizawa chuckled awkwardly and tried to continue the conversation.

"He's my best friend only kid, and we just live as roommates," Midoriya's mouth made an 'o' shape and he apologized, which Aizawa brushed off.

"So, is that a yes kid?" He asked. Midoriya smiled a real smile and nodded. Aizawa smiled back, a rare moment. Maybe things were gonna be good again.
