I wake up in the morning to the blaring sound of my horrible alarm. Groaning, I roll out of bed, feeling the weight of sleep still lingering on my eyelids. I stretch, trying to shake off the remnants of my dreams, and head to my closet to pick out my outfit for the day. I settle on a burgundy long-sleeved one-piece, pairing it with black jeans that hug my legs just right. I grab my favorite brown leather jacket, worn but stylish, and slip into my heeled combat boots, feeling a sense of confidence with every step. In front of the mirror, I gather the top half of my hair, twisting it into a bun while letting the rest cascade down my back. The look is casual yet put-together, perfect for the first week of high school. Next, I carefully apply my makeup, finishing with a swipe of deep red lipstick that matches the burgundy of my outfit. It's bold and empowering, exactly what I need to face the day. I adorn myself with my favorite jewelry, rings that cover each of my fingers, adding a touch of edginess. My triple-layered necklace falls perfectly against my chest, completing the ensemble. With one last glance in the mirror, I grab my bag and head downstairs, ready to meet the day. The smell of coffee wafts through the house as I make my way to the kitchen, where momma is already up and preparing breakfast.

"Morning, sweetie," she greets me with a smile. "You look great."

"Thanks, momma," I reply, grabbing an apple from the counter. "I'm off to get Sam and Morgan."

"Be careful and have a good day at school," she says, giving me a quick hug.

I step out into the crisp morning air, the chill waking me up fully. My boots click against the pavement as I walk to Morgan's house, enjoying the quiet of the early hour. When I arrive, Morgan is already waiting outside, wearing a cute plaid blue skit, white t-shirt, blue jean jacket with white sneakers.

"Hey, Seraphina," she says with a grin. "Looking fierce as always."

"You too," I reply, and we head towards Sam's house together, our pace quickening with excitement for the day ahead.

Sam joins us, walking out of her house looking as if she had just rolled out of the damn bed. Wearing baggy cargo bants and a fast and furious t-shirt and black converse shoes.

"Are you ok Sam?" Morgan asked hugging Sam from behind.

"I hate the morning." Sam stated I handed her my coffee cup and she chugged the rest of the damn thing down.

"Better?" I asked. Taking the empty cup from her hand and tucking it into my bag

"We will see." Sam said wrapping her arm around Morgans shoulder and walking the rest of the way to school. We cross the street and enter the gates of the school the country yard was filled with students. The three of us walk to the door to get in and its locked.

"Why the fuck is the door locked?" Sam asked, still groggy from the early morning.

"The door won't be unlocked until 8:00. You girls have ten minutes to wait," stated someone behind us.

I turned around and found it was Mason, the mundane from the gym yesterday. He was wearing his football jersey, jeans, and sneakers, looking effortlessly put together. I started to wonder if all the men at this school were unnecessarily hot. I mean, is it a requirement to attend this school?

"Well, thanks for the heads-up, mundane," I said, trying to sound casual while looking at him.

Mason walked closer to us, and all I could do was stare at him. He was not the worst-looking human I had ever run across. There was something about his easy confidence that made him even more appealing.

"Well, while you two talk, I am going to take Sam to sit at the fountain before she falls asleep standing up," Morgan said, leading a half-asleep Sam to the fountain nearby. They stumbled away, Morgan's red hair catching the sunlight, and Sam looking like she could fall back asleep any second.
