The Storm
When waking my head feels like cement. Today feels wrong something is coming I don't know what, but I can feel it coming. I walk downstairs and see my mom sitting at the kitchen table she is never sitting down in the morning.
"Mom is everything ok?" I asked concern on my face.
"Seraphina sit down please we need to talk." My mom said gesturing to the seat in front of her.
I sit down in beside her feeling my pulse racing through my body.
"Honey, Samantha's dad has been released from prison." She stated her face grim.
"What Sam just told us he was being considered for parole yesterday how did he get out so quickly?!" I asked panic in my voice.
"Well apparently yesterday was his parole hearing he has been dealing with the court system for almost a whole year trying to get out." My mom stated grabbing my hands.
"Sam and Auntie Maria must be losing their minds." I stated worried about my friend and her mother.
"Seraphina you need to know that Sam's father has requested a visitation with her. Now Auntie Maria does not think that it will be allowed but just in case she took out a restraining order against him for herself unfortunately that does not apply to Sam, so we need you to keep an eye out if he tries to get near you guys, I need you to handle it. We both know that you are more than capable of taking care of the girls and yourself." My mom said looking at me with a serious smirk across her face.
"I will mom. Now you need to get going or we are both going to be late." I stated standing up grabbing my bag and my coffee cup and heading out the front door.
I have no idea who Sam's dad he has been locked up for almost 14 years. I have never even seen a photo of him. I slip out my phone and google his name Danial Anderson. Jesus. This man looks like he is going to murder a puppy for just barking. He had a completely shaved head and tattoos all over his face and body. Well, it won't be hard for me to spot him. I finally reach Sams house and she is sitting on the steps in front of her house. She sees me stands up and walks over her eyes red from crying.
"Sam nothing is going to happen to you or your mother if he dares come near either one of you, I will break him in half." I said looking her in the eyes
"I know but it is just too much to deal with and I hate that I don't know what is going to happen and that is what is bothering me." She said.
"I know trust me I get it but Morgan, Nora and I are going to be here for you no matter what." I said wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
We both walked down the street making our way to Morgans.
"This may be wrong to ask, but with all the news that came in the past twenty-four hours, have we repeated the events of yesterday?" I asked, my voice tinged with concern as I glanced at Athena.
"No," she replied, a small, tired smile playing on her lips. "My mom stayed with me all night last night to make sure I was okay and didn't do anything. But thanks for being concerned, girl. I appreciate it."
Relief washed over me as I returned her smile, grateful that she had someone looking out for her. We walked in comfortable silence for a while until we reached Morgan's house. Suddenly, the front door burst open, and Morgan came dashing out with a speed I didn't even know she was capable of. She practically launched herself at Sam, engulfing her in a massive hug that knocked Sam back a step. Sam chuckled, wrapping her arms around Morgan in return, the two of them holding on tightly as if grounding each other.
