It's been almost a week since our fight. I have been staying at my mom's and I can tell he isn't happy. I see him coming in and out of the bar every now and then. He won't let me get close enough to talk to him.
"I can beat him up if you want." Zoey offered as she sipped her coffee.
"No! Violence will make him worse."
"What are you going to do?"
I stared down into the black liquid in my mug. "I don't know. He has never acted like this before."
"I hate to break it to you, but I doubt it's you that's throwing him off."
This should be a relief, but it's not. If it was me, I might be able to fix it, but if it's him, there is no telling how this will affect our relationship.
"What do you think it is?"
She looked down at her hands. "I think he has a drinking problem."
I scoffed. "No he doesn't."
"Well the alcohol is affecting him. It's his sister's death I bet. Same when you were sick, he is grieving. It's just a phase. Don't worry about it."
I bit my nails. It's been going on for almost a week. I really hope he gets over this "phase" soon.
I saw Zoey staring at something behind me.
"What is it?" I asked.
She rolled her eyes. "Beatrice."
I turned around and saw her sitting at a table behind us, staring at Zoey and smiling.
"I should've never let her bunk with me."
"You actually said yes?"
She shrugged. "The more people that like me, the better."
"So why are you so freaked that she likes you?"
"Because she likes me. Not as a friend."
My mouth dropped open. "How do you know?"
"I don't know for sure, but she has been acting pretty flirty around me. She also wanted to share a bed with me when I said yes to her bunking with me."
I wrinkled my nose. She wrinkled her's back. "Weird, right?"
I couldn't help but laugh. She punched my arm.
"It's not funny!" She was smiling. "It's creepy!"
"You should talk to her. Find out what her deal is." I sipped the hot coffee.
"I'll talk to her if you talk to Ryan."
I frowned. "Fine. Only because I want to see how she reacts."
Zoey groaned. "You were supposed to say no."
I laughed. "Too late now. Go on, if you're lucky, you might get some smooching in."
Her face flushed white. "Oh my God! You're brutal!" She laughed.
She got up and started to walk over to Beatrice, who immediately engaged her in conversation. Zoey looked over at me and raised an eyebrow, telling me to talk to Ryan.
I groaned as I stood up and made my way towards the bar, which was in Terminal D.
I knew I was in the right place the moment I saw the drunks roaming around and the smell of tobacco filled my senses. I was nauseated again and closed my eyes for a moment, before continuing towards the bar.
"Haven't seen you around here, angel, I can give you a tour if you like." A man behind me slurred. A felt a hand touch my butt, I turned around and pushed a gun up to the man's throat.
