A small scream escaped my mouth. I knelt down and saw blood dripping down his temple. I touched the side of his head and pulled my hand away bloody. Tears stung my eyes and I leaned my head down to his chest. His heart was still beating. I wiped a tear that rolled down my cheek.
I looked up to where the bullet had come from, a man with a sniper stood in the left tower, aiming down at us. I didn't think, I shot him in the head and he fell to the ground, creepers surrounded him immediately.
I turned back to Ryan. The bullet had just grazed him.
A loud snarling came from behind me and I turned to shoot the creeper.
"Come on, wake up, Ry." I cupped his face in my hands.
I turned around, the defense had weakened and more were getting in. I looked back at Ryan. I didn't want to, but I had to leave him.
I found a cart and lugged his lifeless body onto it. I used all of my strength to push him into a supply closet. I kissed him on the forehead before shutting the door.
I pulled my machete out of my belt and began killing oncoming creepers. My back ached like crazy and I was starving. I kept going. I saw another sniper aim his gun at what looked like Michael, I pulled my gun back out and shot his shoulder.
The creepers on the wall had thinned out and men were pushing the fence back up.
"Go!" Michael called to me. "We can handle it!"
I shot a creeper coming up behind him. I wasn't going to protest, I needed to sit down.
I went back inside and opened the storage closet door. Ryan still laid on the cart. I didn't have the energy to move him. I bit my lip to fight back the tears. Never leave a man behind. I slid myself in and closed the door, sitting down on the cart next to him. I leaned his head in my lap and kissed him on the forehead.
"I'm not leaving you." I whispered to him. Please wake up. I pulled a small towel from one of the shelves and dabbed the blood from his temple.
A sat for a few more minutes every little moved he made, from the slow rise of his chest to his eyelids twitching, made my heart pound. The gunshots outside had stopped and it was silent, other than the muffled groaning of creepers.
Finally, his eyes opened slowly. I put my hand over my mouth to stifle a sob. I kissed his head so many times.
"What-" he started before he groaned in pain.
"Shh, it's ok." I caressed the side of his face.
"Are we in a closet?" He croaked.
I laughed. "Yeah."
He lifted his hand up to his temple and flinched. "Did I get shot?"
"Yeah. I killed him." He looked shocked by this fact.
I killed a man. I killed another person. He was about to kill Ryan I had to.
He squeezed my hand. "Did it stop?"
I nodded. "It's all over. We can go home now. I was just waiting for you to wake up, Sleeping Beauty."
He smiled weakly and I helped him sit up. We got out and made our way to our plane. When we got inside, I cleaned his head and put a bandage on it.
"You ok?" He asked me.
I sighed as I pressed on the bandage. "I killed someone."
He stroked my face with his hand. "I'm sorry you had to do that. You might have to kill more people though."
