Dream was sleeping soundly in his bedroom when he jumps in alarm as his door was opened with a slight bang as Ink stood before him with a bright grin. "Happy birthday Dream!!" Ink shouted happily as he approaches the Gaurdian with enthusiasm.

"What?" Dream questions softly as he slowly sat up and wiped his bleary sockets, still half asleep. "It's your birthday remember? I even made you breakfast." Ink says with a bright smile as he brought out a plate of French toast.

"Thank you." Dream says with a small smile as he brought the plate to his bed in slight hesitation. "Your welcome." Ink says with a smile as he places a cup of milk on the drawer next to the bed.

Dream lets out a small hum of satisfaction as he took a bite of the food "Do you like it?" Ink questions him as Dream softly nodded "Mhm, it's good." Dream says a bit shyly, his mouth slightly full.

"I'm glad, we're also going out in a little bit so we can celebrate your birthday properly." Ink says with a smile as Dream perks up "Really?" He asks hopefully as Ink nodded in response "Yep, I would be in the living room if you need me, okay." He says as he stood up from the bed and exit the bedroom with a soft click behind him.

Dream places the empty plate on the drawer as he picks up the cup of milk and downs it all at once as he places it right next to the dirty plate. With a small huff, Dream slowly got off his bed and started changing out of his pajamas and into his usual clothes.

He reaches for his crown that was resting on the center of the drawer before pausing as his finger barely touches the cool metal of gold.

"Happy birthday brother."

"Hey Dream, Look at what I got you!"

"Heh, thank you."

Memories of his time at DreamTale flash through his thoughts as Dream's eyes were brimed with golden tears and his hand began to shake a little.

"It hurts, everything hurts!!!"

"Dream, don't forget me, please."

"DREAM!!!"

Dream shook his head as drops of tears fell down his cheekbones as he forced himself to grasp on his golden crown. With a deep breath, he shakingly place the crown on top of his skull as he wiped away the tears that have fallen and exit his bedroom.

"Heya Dream, you ready?" Ink asks with a smile "Y-yeah," Dream says with a hesitant nod as he approaches Ink and gently grabs his hand. Ink's smile softens as his hand felt warm and secure as they exit the apartment they rented and walked outside.

The city they currently lived in was bustling with monsters and humans as Dream tightens his hold on Ink and looked down on the concrete sidewalk with heavy nervousness. "I found this lovely park this city has and it's has plenty of children for you to play with." Ink says as he glances down at Dream with a kind smile.

Dream remained silent for a moment as a flashbacks of the village kids came into mind as a sinking feeling formed at the pits of his apple SOUL. 'But it probably took Ink a while to discover the park, and it'll be rude not to accept.' Dream countered himself as he hesitantly glanced at Ink and gave him a small smile and a short nod.

"O-okay," Dream stutters a little as Ink gave Dream a kind smile as he started leading him to the park. As they approach their destination, the laughter and cheerful shrieks of kids of all ages and sizes echoes across the playground as an air of positivity surrounded the area.

Dream began to slowly relax from the positivity as he looks up from the ground and at the playground full of kids, a part of him actually wanting to run in and enjoy himself. Ink lightly nudges him forward as Dream looks up at him "Go have fun kid." Ink says with a wink, Dream looks back at the playground and with slight hesitation, made his way towards it.

Ink smiles widens as he nodded in approval and sat on the one of the benches at the side so he could watch Dream intract with the kids.

Dream slowly made his way through the playground as he looks at the laughing children, hesitant to approach them or ask them to play. Why was he so nervous all of the sudden? This was supposed to be second nature to him, to approach both monsters and humans.

And yet...

"I promise we could play after you help me clean my room."

And yet...

"Your brother makes me very uncomfortable."

And yet...

"My mommy says that you brother is a demon, is that true?"

All of these thoughts and more clouded his mind as he started to seeing the village kids instead of the playground full of children. Dream's breathing became heavy and his soul began to ache when something, or someone, interrupted his thought process.

Dream felt a small, yet firm hand on his shoulder as a young voice of a boy could be heard behind him.

"Are you okay?"
