Aiyla stood there in shock for a few moments before she was finally registering what was happening.
She was kissing Xavier Thorpe.
Oh. My. God.
Aiyla felt as iflightning was coursing through her veins, her heart feeling waves of emotion –slamming into her and closing her lungs with the force of it. She couldn't breathe, maybe that was why she was going dizzy? Either way, her knees had gone weak as he tried to comprehend that Xavier's lips were against hers and his hands her on her face. His skin was warm and his body was lean and hard muscled against her own.
And then they broke away, and it was over just as soon as it had started and Aiyla was left craving more.
She stood there, her forehead against his, her eyes still closed as she tried to keep the moment existing a little longer. She inhaled his scent as she tangled her hands in his hair, the familiar scent of musk and pine comforting her.
Aiyla's eyes finally fluttered open in slight disbelief.
She looked up at Xavier through her lashes and found that he was beaming and blushing, his eyes shining with happiness.
Someone screamed: "Finally!"
"I'm sorry," Xavier stuttered out, but he couldn't stop smiling, which caused a warm glow to fuse in Aiyla's chest. "I just really had to do that."
Aiyla smiled softly, blushing and feeling her breath hitch. She let her fingers trail against his face, causing sparks to fly, until she finally tangled her hands into his hair as he leaned down and she stood on her tiptoes.
"Don't apologise," she reprimanded, "canim benim."
Xavier grinned, "I love it when you call me that."
A mischievous look danced in Aiyla's eyes, "Oh, really, canim benim?"
He rolled his eyes and pulled away from her, grabbing her hand and pulling her towards the dance floor, "Come on, my sweet gazelle."
They made their way to the dance floor and Xavier spun her around as the music began to play, causing Aiyla to laugh.
He held a hand out for her, "I believe you owe me a dance, gazelle."
Aiyla took his hand and rolled her eyes, "I don't owe you anything."
She danced with him anyway.
They spun around until they were dizzy and giddy with enough laughter that Aiyla's stomach was hurting and her head was spinning. Aiyla was hyped up on enough adrenaline that she felt as if she were drunk on stardust and colour and music and everything else that was vibrant about the world.
