Aiyla was almost reminded of English weather as she stood besides Wednesday, shielded by their shared umbrella. She saw her breath mist aroudn her as the rain showered.

Rain.

Her worst enemy.

She could feel in getting in her eyes, but she didn't want to rub them, for fear someone would think she was crying.

Because they stood at a funeral.

Mayor Walker's funeral.

He hadn't survived the crash and had 'died' in the hospital. But from his vitals being perfectly stable to suddenly plummeting, Aiyla suspected foul play was involved.

The entire town and most of Nevermore attended the funeral, everyone dressed in black and sobbing or staring unceremoniously into space.

The event was sombre and horrid. Everyone had their eyes trained on the coffin.

Except Wednesday.

No, her gaze was fixed on Tyler Galpin.

Aiyla wanted to say something, but figured that any comments would wash away the small success. Wednesday hadn't had any sort of interaction with Tyler in the last couple of days, and it was really taking a toll on her. The Addams girl could hide it all she wanted, but in truth she was obsessed with the Sheriff's son.

"I enjoy funerals," Wednesday whispered, "I've been crashing them since I knew how to read the obituary section."

Aiyla nodded, "Mayor Walkers killer was murdered and the killer is still out there," she murmured, "Standing innocently amongst us, plotting their next move."

"And watching everything we do," Wednesday agreed, "I know we're close to the truth. We have all the pieces of the jigsaw."

"We just need to slot them into place," Aiyla finished. "We must look past the tears and masks of grief."

Wednesday hummed in agreement, "Until now we've been outmatched and outmaneuvered, but the final gambit has yet to be played."

"The killer will make a mistake," Aiyla assured, "And we'll be ready."

They stood in silence for a moment, Wendesday's gaze still trained on Tyler. He turned and looked at her, meeting her eyes and the Addam's girl gasped slightly, her composure dropping for a second. She dug her nails into Aiyla's hand painfully and let the umbrella slip from her hand slightly.

Aiyla held it up and pursed her lips.

Wednesday broke eye contact with Tyler and looked hard at the ground. She stayed silent for a few moments, before mumbling, "It hurts?" almost as if she were surprised and confused she were feeling it at all.
