This chapter is a little longer than the others. I got carried away.
Liam could barely focus through the rest of the school day. His whole train of thought was on nothing but Theo. When he was in French class? Theo. When he was in Physics? Theo. When was hanging out with Mason? Theo. And now, he was thinking about Theo all throughout lacrosse tryouts.
It didn't help that the football players were practicing not that far away from the lacrosse team. Theo was warming up a bunch of freshmen, walking them through drills and making sure they learned a thing or two about Beacon Hills football.
He was also shirtless. Shirtless! How is Liam supposed to just look away when he has a full view of Theo's abs from where he was standing. Okay, maybe Mason was right, maybe he was whipped for him already.
"Liam, look out!"
Liam gets snapped out of looking at Theo when he hears someone screaming at him from across the field. But, the realization of a flying object comes too late, and hits him right in the head. He was wearing a helmet, but it still startled him. But it doesn't just stop there. The ball lands right next to Liam, and another boy comes running at him. Before he can get out of the way, the other boy knocks into Liam, flipping him over and having him land on his ass.
Liam groans in pain as a stinging feeling comes shooting up his backside. He falls back into the grass after hearing a bunch of seniors laughing at him. Even the coach comes up to him and tsk in disappointment. "What are you doing, McCall? I thought you were going to be star talent like your dad. But maybe I was wrong." He blows his whistle right in his face before walking away.
Liam growls after the coach is out of his ear shot. "Dunbar. Not McCall." Liam didn't mind being called McCall or even Lahey every once in a while. But when people use it as a comparison to his dads, it makes him a little annoyed. A hand comes into his vision. He looks up to see Nolan stretching out his hand towards the blonde sophomore. Liam sighs before grabbing a hold of his hand.
Nolan drags the boy so he's steady on his feet. "Okay, what's going on? You were so focused this morning and so excited for tryouts the entire day. What's on your mind that's distracting you?"
Liam looks past Nolan towards the football field. He couldn't help but space out again as he watched Theo practice. The boy was now practicing some receiving - catching almost every pass perfectly. His hands would reach up to catch the pass and expose his abs.
"Liam!" Nolan snaps in front of his face, snapping out of his thoughts about Theo's abs. Nolan looks over at the field and finds the cause of Liam's problems. He sighs in annoyance. "Okay. Listen to me, Liam. You need to forget about Theo right now and focus on lacrosse."
"I can't help it, Nolan. I have been thinking about Theo all day, ever since our tutoring session. There's just something about him that makes my heart race, my mind blank, and my palms sweat."
"Pretty sure that's the workout from practice." Liam glares at the brunette. "Okay, Liam, I get it. If anyone is one to drool over a hot boy's abs, it would be me. But I still manage to keep my focus on practice. You want to be captain, right?"
"Yeah."
Nolan picks up the boys lacrosse stick and shoves it into Liam's chest. "Than show those stupid seniors who deserves to rule the lacrosse field." Nolan turns back around and gets in line for shooting practice, right behind Brett.
Liam looks over at the football field one last time. He gets a glimpse of Theo talking with some other boys on the team. Probably seniors, just like himself. Liam shakes his head, burying all of those thoughts to the back of his mind. He takes a deep breath and clutches a hold of his stick.
