The campers were moving as fast as they could through the jungle, Yasmina's arms draped over Brooklynn and Sammy's shoulders, Darius and Kenji doing the same for Y/n.

They looked behind them, seeing a parasaurolophus, but only for an instant. With a roar, the queen of the island burst through the treeline, averting the other dinosaur aside. The t-rex's thunderous footsteps shook Isla Nublar.

Y/n dragged Kenji and Darius aside, still having enough strength to do so, making them notice the giant fallen tree just ten meters from them. They got the message.

Darius: "Cover!"

The girls saw where they were headed and followed. They had all just managed to get behind the tree when one of the dinosaur's tails thudded against it, rocking their makeshift shelter. They stayed close, not wanting to be any more visible than necessary.

Something crunched sickeningly behind them, the rex had got her meal.

Darius stood up, peeking over the trunk, seeing the t-rex dragging away the parasaurolophus. He muttered to the rest of them.

Darius: "They're gone."

They let out deep sighs.

Kenji: "Why are there so many dinosaurs around?"

They all understood his frustration, none of them in a much better mental state. Naturally, they weren't in the best of moods.

Brooklynn: "It's either your boyish charm or all the fences are down."

Sammy: "No offense, but it's definitely option two."

Y/n: "All offense, it's option two."

His voice was weak, far weaker than the others. While they were all tired and hungry, Y/n was also pale and shaky. None of them knew just how much blood he had lost or how long he could last without medical assistance, somehow that was more disturbing than the dinosaurs. They could run from dinosaurs, but they just had to watch Y/n lose more and more color, becoming a shell of how he was before.

Yasmina: "Does it even matter? Right now, we just need food. We haven't eaten since we had those awful carob bars that Ben..."

She stopped.

Sometimes, she would forget that Ben was gone, it had happened so fast that it was too much for her to process, it was too much for all of them. They had only a moment to mourn before a distant roar jerked them back to the present.

They groaned as they stood up.

Sammy: "We just need to eat and rest. I can't keep running like this."

The girls helped up Yasmina, and the boys slung Y/n over their shoulders. He had tried to get them to stop, but he was stubborn, not stupid, and he knew he had to stop forcing himself to do more than he could.

They hadn't made it very far at all before Darius stopped, almost making Y/n fall forward.

The top of the visitor center was poking over the canopy of leaves.

Darius: "We don't have to. There's bound to be a way to call for help on Main Street, and food and everything else."

As he finished talking, his eyes flicked towards Y/n's side, apparently still too painful to close his jacket over.

They started towards the center grinning widely.

Timeskip

Those grins faded as they saw the state the street was in. Storefronts were wrecked, large gashes in buildings, and all sorts of memorabilia scattered over the floor.
