Darius was lying prone on a thick tree branch, surveying the island with a pair of binoculars. Two baryonyxes were running through the jungle, large theropods that greatly resembled Toro in size and build, except with longer arms and a crocodilian head, they even had small osteoderms along their backs. One was grey and desaturated blue, the other brown and mottled green. Pteranodons were flying over several parts of the island, and by now Darius could tell if they were hunting or simply there.

Bellow him, the others were all resting at the base of two trees. Yasmina and Sammy sitting on the roots of one with Brooklynn standing next to them. Kenji was slumped against the tree behind them, Y/n at his side sleeping with his jacket as a pillow on a root, the t-rex fang clutched in his hand.

Kenji, being exceedingly board, tossed a stone at the tree the girls were resting at, a dull thud as it hit the trunk. He threw another, making Yasmina twitch. She turned and caught the third one from the air, glaring at Kenji and making him drop the stone he was going to throw next.

Darius climbed down the tree the boys were set up against, making the girls walk over at his sigh. Yasmina struggled to her feet, wincing at the shot of pain in her leg.

Sammy: "Good news?"

Darius: "The pteranodons are nesting on the eastern mountains, so that's out."

Sammy: "Ugh! Bad news."

She pulled a map from the shopping bag she was carrying, with a red cross on almost every part of the island. She and Y/n had been delegated the roles of carrying things, as she had the bag and his jacket seemed to have endless pockets.

Brooklynn: "So, we can't stay on Main Street, because dinosaurs. The mountains, grasslands, and jungle are out, because dinosaurs."

Yasmina: "And Kenji's penthouse is out because he's bad at math."

He spoke up from his spot on the floor.

Kenji: "Hey I didn't think my dad was serious about changing the locks if I failed algebra. That is not my fault."

Yasmina: "That is actually completely your fault."

Kenji: "Okay, well, whatever. The whole island is full of dinosaurs. We're cooked!"

Sammy: "We can't give up yet. We set off the emergency beacon. We just need to find somewhere safe to hole up until rescue arrives."

While it was logically sound, there were several problems with that plan. Namely the aforementioned dinosaurs everywhere.

Y/n had woken up from the arguing. He blinked several times, sitting up slowly.

Yasmina: "Where? It's been days. We're out of options."

Darius: "Actually, there's one place we haven't tried yet, but I'm not sure you're gonna like it."

Timeskip

They were now all looking at the wreckage of camp.

Kenji: "Are you serious? Didn't we specifically run away from here?"

Darius: "Just hear me out. There's a stream for fresh water. We've got trees and mountains to protect us from the worst of weather and dinosaur attacks."

Brooklynn cleared her throat, looking around at the camp that had been ruined by one dinosaur attack.

Darius: "Okay, not all dinosaur attacks. But if you were coming to rescue a bunch of campers, wouldn't camp be the first place you looked?"

Y/n: "Flawless logic there, except that they would have no way of knowing it's us they're looking for. Even if they did a tally of who got off the island and found us missing, they'd just assume we died. There's sure to be countless people who did that could also be suspects for who's still here."
