S2: Chaos

Sammy and Darius were still standing in the middle of nowhere in the jungle, looking up at the camera and speaker, the roars of Rexy floating along the chilly wind towards them while her holographic counterparts' roar looped.

Brooklynn: "We still can't hear you! Just start hitting buttons."

Darius: "I said Mitch and Tiff are going to kill all the dinosaurs at the watering hole! They're on their way now! I..."

His drumming heart slowed as he took a breath of the night air.

Darius: "I know what I have to do."

He looked at Sammy. It took a moment, but she knew him well enough to figure out what he was thinking.

Sammy: "Absolutely not! You're going to get killed if you go it alone."

Darius: "I have to! This is all my fault."

Sammy: "What are you talking about?

He sighed, the weight of his actions pressing down on his chest.

Darius: "The only reason Mitch and Tiff know about the watering hole is because I showed them. I'm the one who didn't listen to Y/n and Brooklynn. The dinosaurs are in danger because of me. Because I wasn't good enough our best shot off the island almost bled to death, I need to make up for it. I already lost Ben, and Y/n was so close..."

Sammy: "Darius, that's not your fault."

She felt her heart clenching in her chest. It was a feeling they'd all had. If they'd just been more competent, or more willing to listen to him, then maybe Y/n wouldn't have gotten so badly hurt.

Darius put a hand on her shoulder.

Darius: "Mitch said their boat is at the northwest dock. Get everyone together and get off the island now while Mitch and Tiff are busy."

He wasn't quite sure where the surge of confidence was coming from, though, it also could definitely be a surge of stupidity, that one was much less new to him.

He moved to walk away, just for Sammy to grab his arm.

Sammy: "What about you?"

Darius: "I have to make this right.

The speaker crackled, and a voice rang clearly through it.

Ben: "We got your back, Darius! Forget the boat. Mitch and Tiff are going down!"

For a moment, they just looked up at the speaker in awe.

Darius: "Ben?!"

Sammy: "You're alive!?"

Their hearts seemed to swell in joy at the sound of the boy's voice.

Ben: "Oh, right. You didn't know. Yeah. Also we found the sound button, so we can hear you. And I defeated Toro. Bumpy also says hi."

They had no reaction. They didn't even know what to think to react to, they just stared in slack-jawed shock.

Ben: "I think I broke them."

Yasmina pushed Ben out of the way, leaning down over the speaker.

Yasmina: "Yeah, Ben's alive, we're very happy about it."

Then, Brooklynn pushed them both aside, jamming her finger down onto the speaker button.

Brooklynn: "Point is we're not going to let you do this alone. We're in."

Darius: "You don't get it. You guys could get to the boat. Y/n, isn't this the smart play?"
