Izuku spent the rest of the day following Todoroki and Bakugo around. He was still extremely nervous, and was shaking, holding his hands together to try and calm down, but he didn't feel so alone. He ended up meeting and talking to all the other kids, trying to introduce himself at times, and letting Todoroki do it at other times.
By the time he had finished talking to everyone he was exhausted. He hadn't ever talked to this many people before, but before he could relax, everyone was once again in the commons area after eating dinner and Aizawa was telling them all about the trip they would be taking tomorrow.
Aizawa explained that they were taking a trip to the nearby theme park so they could get out of the house and have some fun now that they had Izuku with them.
By the time everyone was done freaking out over their trip and Aizawa's repeated warnings to be quiet and to let him finish, all of them were dismissed and Izuku started making his way back to his room. Just as he was about to grab the doorknob, he suddenly heard a familiar voice calling out to him.
"Midoriya! Hang on a sec!" Todoroki was running down the hallway, clearly out of breath.
"W-what is i-it, T-Todoroki?"
"Can I ask you something? You don't have to answer if you don't want to though."
Izuku was confused as he looked at Todoroki, he was also worried about what he wanted to ask. There was so much that he still wanted to keep hidden. "U-um, o-okay."
"You fell asleep earlier while watching the movie, and you've had dark circles basically since you got here. Are you sleeping okay? I'm in the room next door, but your room is always silent. I don't want to pry, but I keep thinking about it."
"Oh..." Izuku was stunned at what he was asked. Out of everything, the last thing he was expecting was being asked if he was sleeping. "N-no, I um... d-don't s-sleep very m-much. I-I get n-nightmares s-so I s-stay awake."
Todoroki didn't know what to say as he looked at Izuku. He could tell that he wasn't sleeping, but he didn't realize that he was purposefully forcing himself to stay awake. What could have happened to him? "Midoriya, that door right there is my room, and the first one on the right by the stairs is Bakugo's."
"U-um, o-okay?"
"You can ask us for help anytime. I'm sure Aizawa told you, but we have all been together a long time, and we are the only family we all have. So, we see you as our family. If you need us, we'll be there. You can talk to us at any time, even in the middle of the night."
Oh... he's... Izuku felt tears prick at his eyes as he realized what Todoroki meant. This was something new to him, and he didn't know how to react so the tears just started to flow down his cheeks and he nodded to show that he had heard.
"Good. Good night Midoriya." Todoroki didn't want to bother Izuku, so he figured it would be best if he gave him some space for the night and walked over to his own door when he heard Izuku's quiet, stuttering voice.
"G-good n-night." Izuku walked into his room, and laid down on his bed and he looked at his ceiling, thinking about everything that had happened. He could never have guessed that he would talk to others so casually, or that he could have actual friends. The day was long, tiring and emotional, but no matter how tired he was feeling he still couldn't fall asleep.
He continued to lay on his bed as the night went on, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't fall asleep. Whenever he closed his eyes, he would see himself back in the lonely cement room, so he wanted to keep his eyes open where he knew was somewhere safe.
I know Todoroki said to wake them up... but that would be mean. They'll probably come to hate me if I bother them...
He wasn't even sure how much time had actually passed until he noticed a small bit of light starting to shine through the window, showing that it was already morning. He decided that he would just get up and shower to get ready for the day.
