  I nodded.

  "I got hit by a car, like it's kind of like a metal carriage, and died.Somehow, I exchanged bodies with Astraea who died in her sleep.I am Trinity's vassal, and she killed both of us for a split second to transfer our souls.This is because Accina's vassal is in this world, and Trinity picked me as her vassal to stop her."I explained.

  Alastair's face was pale.

  "When...did this change occur?" Alastair asked asked.

  "New years."I replied, "The Astraea you knew last year and the one you knew as children is gone.Her soul was eaten by a demon while in my body, which fell into a coma and a demon of Accina's killed it."

  "Oh, then I'm in the love with the right person."Alastair replied.

  Excuse me what?!

  "What?!"I cried.

  "I was worried the Astraea I knew for the past few weeks was gone.I never really loved Astraea...the old one.In these past few weeks, you've been a better fiancé than Astraea ever was.Astraea was a friend, but not a love interest for me.You changed that."Alastair said, "I thought something was off.You were more fun, and different I guess."

  I paused.Did that mean that the love interests actually fell in love with me and not Astraea?That while I was mimicking her, some parts of me shown out and captured their hearts?!Actually, no that last sentence was cringe...but still...I was the villainess!This should't be happening.

  "But I'm the villainess, Alastair, you'll be fated to be with the heroine if she chooses you among the other love interests."I said, "You see, we're in an otome-novel game world and-"

  Alastair blocked my mouth with his hand.

  "Look, I don't care about this heroine.I will never be with her cause I love you and will only love you, Astraea.It doesn't matter if your the villainess, you've already stolen my heart.Hence, I am determined to keep you away from harm and make sure no one else takes you away from me."Alastair declared, "Plus, if she has other guys, she can go to them.Im taken.What kind of evil woman would want to try to seduce an engaged man?"

  Despite how cringe his words were, I hugged him.Maybe cringe and predictable were just the type of words that I needed.

  "Thank you, Alastair."I replied.

  How was I supposed to love Alastair if I remembered Adam?Adam said he wantwd me to live this life to the fullest.Hence, Trinity~

  "Wait whAt?!"Alastair cried, "You knew all of that but didn't tell me?"

  "It doesn't matter, we just have to stop her.She is a commoner, named Emmeline.She would come to the academy in two weeks after her rich merchant parents die in an accident that killed hundreds, and she is found to have healing magic.We must prepare to catch her in the act so we have a chance to execute her."I said, "Oh, if you haven't caught on Emmeline caused the accident that killed her parents."

  Alastair's look of confuge slackened and became a face of realization.

  "Oh."He replied.

  "However, since she is the heroine, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to catch her.If so, we just have to keep our eyes and ears ready to see when Emmeline would strike next."I said.

  Cause that was how the story worked.In all the modes, even hard. Suddenly, I remembered that vision of Ji-yeon and I talking about 'My Darling Emmeline'.She had a theory that the new expert mode would be played as the villainess.The villainess would try to stop the manipulative mastermind of the first three difficulties, Emmeline Rosanne Grey.
Expert mode released the day before I died.So could it be-I gasped.

  "Alastair, I think your right!I've been playing expert mode this whole time!! I was the villainess in the first three modes turned heroine in the hardest!" I cried.

  "Wait so this is a world in a game you played in your past life?I thought it was a novel."Alastair said.

  I shook my head.

  "Sadly, this was like a...dating game if that sort of thing exists here."I explained.

  "How could there be people whose love lives are so bad that they would date some fictional characters in something that is not even reality?!" Alastair cried.

  I paused for a moment.

  "What?"

  "I played that game you know?"

  "Did I insult you?"

  "Kind of, accidentally."

  Then the two of us burst out laughing.

  "Well, now that you know the truth, will you help me stop the villainess?"I asked, extending my hand for a hand shake.

  Alastair took my hand.

  "Of course I will."Alastair replied.

  It was only then that I realized that the affection percentage faded away. This was not a game universe anymore.My actions have irreversible consequences.I had to step carefully across the thin ice from now on to reach my happy ending.
