After resting and recuperating in the castle, I had to return to the Academy.I was helping Carina pack my stuff, not like there was much.It was then I heard a familiar voice.

  "Good morning, Astrie."Emmeline said.

I turned around.Emmeline was sitting on my windowsill, her legs swinging. Her blonde locks swung against the wind, perfectly framing her beautiful face. She stared at me as if I was an insignificant rat, her eyes glowing an ominous red.

A thick, red substance floated around her fingers.Blood magic? It had to be.Even after all this, I was still afraid of Emmeline. She was the protagonist, and I was the antagonist. Emmeline, without a doubt, would be more powerful than me.

"Are you afraid, Astrie?"Emmeline asked, chuckling.

Carina looked at Emmeline, then looked at me.She stood in front of me, blocking me from Emmeline, as if shielding me from her.

"Your trespassing the castle! And your making my lady feel uncomfortable! My lady is benevolent so I will give you a chance, leave before I call the guards to arrest you!"Carina cried.

I was momentarily stunned.Carina was defending me.Why?!I don't deserve...then I remembered how I was always nice to her, and her undying loyalty to me.Was this...the reward I got for my actions?

"Don't worry Carina, she's an aqquintance of mine."I said, gently lowering down the arm she used to shield me.

  "B-But-"Carina stuttered.

I gave her a reassuring smile.I had to face Emmeline anyway, and she must have an important thing to tell me if she came herself.

After seeing my smile, Carina lowered her head and stood in a corner, watching the two of us lest Emmeline made any attempt to hurt me.

  I took a deep breath.

"No, it's just a natural reaction.Your power is immense, Emmeline."I explained.

Emmeline chortled. She rocked back and forth, in peels of laughter. It was
rather unsettling to watch her laugh.

"Hehe, if you say so, Astrie." Emmeline said.

Was she trying to drag out the conversation again?I sighed.

"Cut to the chase, Emmeline.Just tell me what's the news.I need to leave in 10 minutes."I said, "In fact, I should be heading down right now."

"Aww,"Emmeline whined, "Fine, I'll tell you."

Emmeline crossed her legs and arms. I was fiddled with my fingers, avoiding eye contact with Emmeline.

"I was from your world."Emmeline said simply.

My eyes widened in shock.I knew that Emmeline knew my old name since she was Accina's vessel. However, I did not know that Emmeline was actually from my past world.

Then, I suddenly thought of something that would derectly contradict what I thought of Accina. They had killed my old body, right? Why would they that? One could argue that Accina was trying to stop Trinity and she is known to go to drastic lengths for 'the greater good'.

"My Lady...what does she mean?"Carina asked, trembling.

My eyes narrowed.Right, only Eos and Alastair know, and I would like it to stay that way.Sorry, Carina, but I have to keep you in the dark. Confidential information is called confidential information for a reason.I hope you understand.

"Carina, I shall test your loyalty to me."I instructed, "Please guard the door so no one comes in, and don't listen to us.If anyone insists on coming in, give them any excuse, knock them out if they insist I dont care.Just don't let anyone into my room. Can you do that for me?"

Carina was hired by the King and Queen, for all I know she might report what she heard to them.Even after all I have been through with Carina, I could not risk anyone else knowing my secret. As much as I wanted to trust her, I still could not bring myself to.

I am sorry, Carina.I know that you are almost definitely on my side, but I was too afraid of being betrayed.I was too afraid to take a risk that could barely be called one.I was too afraid....of being betrayed and dying again.

Death....I was afraid of it.I laughed internally.I did not want to die, like any normal human being.

  -Carina POV-

I had swore my undying loyalty to My Lady. However, somewhere deep inside me, I was hurt that she did not trust me enough to let me listen in on what she and the mysterious woman were saying.

My Lady made me realize that I was very much human, and I had emotions, and that I should follow them sometimes. My Lady was the first person that I worked for to ever treat me like a human being and acknowledge that fact. The little things she did for me every day, as simple as buying some of her favourite dessert for me.

My Lady taught me how the standards for a woman set by society was impossible to achieve. She taught me so much life lessons by simply being my master and giving me the opportunity to observe her.

I will follow My Lady to the ends of the earth, even if that meant if I will die an early death. However, she herself has told me to follow my emotions sometimes.I will leave...but
...

"My Lady, before I leave, may I know why you don't trust me?"Carina asked.

-FL's POV-

Tears stung my eyes.I rubbed them away.

"It's not that I don't trust you, Carina! It's just that...that....I'm afraid of dying."I muttered, "My shield is gone.I thought I was not afraid of dying anymore.But...I am...."

Carina was speechless. She silently walked to me, and hugged me tightly, before leaving the room.

I just stared at the door she left by in a daze.

"Hmph, that maid has grown quite attached to you."Emmeline said, tapping her finger against her cheek.

Her voice brought me back to my senses.

"Yes, she has.I don't mind it.So tell me more."I said.

"We were in the same school, but died at the same time, by suicide.I hated our world.Hence, I left it.However, when I found out that Accina choose me as her vessel, I thought why not have a bit of fun with your new life?So that's what I did.I'll follow the timeline and go to the academy."Emmeline explained, "Andddd.....that's about all.Just to inform you that you'll be seeing me much often soon."

I gulped.Seeing Emmeline much often is something I do not look up to.

"So, see you soon, Astrie!Or should I say, Pak Heongchae."Emmeline said, waving.

Then, she leaned back, flipped over and fell off the windowsill.
