Hostage?!

The air blew my hair backwards as Duchess Greenfield carried me towards the tents on our side.As we did this, the robots from earlier were chasing us.

With the extra weight, it was only a matter of time until the robots catch up to us and chop us to pieces.The most painful thing was that I could do nothing to stop it.On the contrary, I was more likely a burden, being dead weight.

The robots were too smart.They aimed for the wrists first to stop one from performing magic, then went for the kill.I had some nerves in my wrists that were damaged, so I was incapable of performing magic.

So right now, all I could do was watch.It was a race against time to get to our side.

"Hold on tight, young one."Duchess Greenfield said, "Were these the creatures that disabled your magic?"

I nodded.She was quick to catch on. Her voice was calming too, like a mother's.

"Yes, they are highly intelligent.They aim to disable your magic before killing you."I replied in a nonchalant tone, hiding the fear in my heart.

Duchess Greenfield started using more of her energy in her wind magic to go faster.However, the robots knew better.

Suddenly, one of the robots burst out of the cloud above us and swung its sword.Duchess Greenfield was unable to conjure a null magic shield in time.

There was a sickening crunch as head was seperated from body.I started falling, the severed head of the woman I had just talked to seconds ago right in front of my eyes.Her eyes were dull, dark and unseeing.

The Duchess's blood rained from above down onto our own soldiers and the enemy's soldiers.I was falling, fast.Time seemed to slow down.I was going to die.Again.I will never stop Emmeline and Accina, I will never get the happy ending Astraea wanted. Tears formed at my eyes.Why?!All I wanted was happiness.Just a second of that feeling.If we are supposed to gain happiness from small things like good food and conversing with friends, then what was even the point of living 9-10 hours of one's life doing mind-numbing office jobs or practically 24/7, stressful jobs?

I closed for eyes, what I thought would be the last time.However, life wanted to torment me event more.The robots caught me.I thought they were going to chop me to pieces.However, they lifted me up to above the clouds and flew over to the enemy's side.I, of course, could do absolutely nothing about it without my magic.

Did the robots receive new orders?I had no choice but to wait and see.After cruising at the same altitude for around 30 minutes, of which I kept spent thinking.I rather be teared into pieces then be a hostage.If J was likely to die anyways, I mind as well die right now.However, the robots kind of morphed into a metal prison with one tiny window.I could not jump.

Ughhhh, I want my life to be of good use, not as leverage!!Trinity, what do I do?

'I have already sent one of my people to get you out, but they have been delayed by Accina's minions.More likely or not, Emmeline and Accina are working with Heilos.'Trinity explained, 'Hence, I've sent more of my people.However, Accina has more people working for her than me because of the desires she promises to grant them.I'm sorry, but I spent 10,000 years in captivity and missed most of the evolution of my dear creation, humans.I don't have many people left that were not slain during that 10,000 year period.'

I sighed.Trinity had been my back up all this time and never failed to pull me out of these kinds of inescapable situations.However, now was the first time that my godly friend could not help me.

'Accina really wants you to get captured.'Trinity said, 'She sent a lot of her people to stop mine.I'm afraid that I cannot help you.'

I bit my lip.Ugh, this is so cliche and annoying.Why am I the one that's going to be held hostage?!Make a twist and have one of the love interests get taken hostage instead! Dumb otome game universe.As I sulked in the metal prison of morphed robots, I did not realize that we were descending.

'You know your descending, right? Trinity said, 'Ill be watching you nervously.'

I looked out the window.Oh, we were descending.I saw a beautiful castle and lush, green planes.Heilos was actually quite beautiful.If only it's ruler was not such an ass.

I sighed.It was so unfortunate. However, there is no 'good' side in war.Heilos's new king must have a motive.War is just plain bloodshed at the order of those of higher rank, and the innocent pay the price for their selfish ways.

The jumble of robots land and then the box opened.I squinted.The window was a very small window.

There I saw Emmeline, with the shadow of Accina behind her.Beside Emmeline was the king of Heilos.No way...I thought that I would not see her for the next two weeks.

"Hello, Miss Asterisk."Emmeline said, smiling, "Or should I say...Pak Heongchae?"

Wait...how the hell did he know who I was in my previous life?!Wait a second, she was the vassal of Accina, and Accina ordered my death.Had they come after this body to kill me?I am so dumb, Accina could have just told her what my previous life was.

"What do you want?"I asked, "I'll be skipping the villainess's speech cutscene thank you very much.Just get straight to the point."

Emmeline chuckled.

"Okay, you're so blunt, Iris.I want to use you for something." Emmeline said, "I won't tell you what that is, though.Trinity is watching.So don't worry, I won't dispose of you yet."

I will not let her use me for whatever evil plan she has in mind.Trinity can just reincarnate me to another life after this one in this universe, or transmigrate me to another life if I die.However, I want to fulfill Astraea's wish for her.I want to live her life for her.

I remembered, though the memory was hazy, that I made a promise to someone I had forgotten from my past life.I remembered that I promised to meet that person in my next life.I also wanted to fulfill my mission as Astraea without dying, so I can meet whoever this person is in my next life. Even though I don't remember them, I will not go back on my promises.

"I know what you're thinking, Iris. You would rather die than be of use to my plans.It is understandable. However-"Emmeline explained.

Guards grabbed my arms and hoisted me up.

"You won't be able to use your hands to kill yourself if they are bound to short chains that come from different directions...like the room I specailly made for you."Emmeline said, "Oh and you won't be able to use magic either."

My eyes widened.Emmeline gently put a necklace around my neck.I suddenly felt exhausted.

"With no energy, you cannot perform magic, can you?"Emmeline said, chuckling.

"You know the love interests would come, right?"I asked.

"Yes, but this is not an otome game, Iris.It's a real universe."Emmeline replied, patting my head, "Enjoy your stay!"

The guards took me away, and Emmeline waved while smiling.I simply felt fear and dread.Love interests, don't be dumb and come after me!!!This is clearly a trap, don't follow it.You'll doom your entire empire for someone whose life did not matter!!All I could do was hope that none of them would do anything stupid.
