Morana's POV

Alone.

That's all I've been since I can remember. Since they took me. And that feeling slowly snowballed into a comforting one. It's now something I look forward to. When they come in to take me away, I pray for isolation. When I can hear them talking down the halls about their next orders, I cry for silence. When they strip me of my memories, I wish I was dead.

The only thing I can remember, which haunts me, is that Winter isn't here with me. They must have taken him away from me before they locked me in my cell. He must be sitting in his own cell somewhere else in the building, alone, scared, and wounded.

My thoughts are broken by the sound of the door unlocking, being dragged across the concrete floor as it opens. Guards, with their guns and armour strapped to their bodies, grab me by my arm and throw me out of the door. One grabs the back of my neck, pulls me to a standing position and forces me to walk down the hallway in front of them, pushing me when I start slacking. I begin walking in the usual direction, towards the hospital wing, but a guard grabs my arm and forces me down another hallway. A hallway that I've never been down before.

They open a white door, push me into the room, and slam the door closed behind me. As quickly as it was lost from me, I become alone again. Except, this time, I'm in an unknown place and I can't feel safe in it. The entire room is white. Not a lovely white. A bland, yet vibrant white. A white that I can feel is slowly stripping me of my sanity. Every item in the room is white as well. The bed, the floor, the ceiling, the food bowl, and the toilet are all the same white as the walls.

Even the speaker in the top corner of the room is white as it beeps, alerting me when it does. It slightly vibrates against the wall when a booming voice passes through it.

"Morana. You are to prepare for your next mission. You are to fight the Winter Soldier until one of you can no longer breathe. He will be here in a few seconds. Prepare now, soldier."

With my rapid breathing, I get into a fighting stance, with my fists clenched in front of my chest. I face the door, prepared to fight for my life, without wanting to. They must have brainwashed him, taken away his ability to say no, and forced him to fight me. I don't even know if he'll remember me. If he'll hold back fighting me like he did last time we were ordered to fight each other. Either way, I begin harnessing my powers to the tips of my fingers, ready to blast wind and force him out of the room before we hurt each other. I won't kill him, I refuse to. I won't even hurt him.

A haunting, throaty laugh echoes through the speakers, making my body stiffen. I instantly recognize the sound belonging to a guard. A guard that has caused so much more havoc than any other. His striking face is stamped into my memories, along with the things he's done to me.
