Aira

Aira was sleeping peacefully when she heard a bang on the door. She heard a voice telling her to open the door immediately. The voice sounded like her mother's voice and she knew her mother well enough to know that she was furious.

Aira sat up in cold sweat, wings flared out in panic, and her heart racing it practically felt. She blinked the sleep out of her eyes and scowled at the wooden door at the end of the room. She heard another knock on the door, this time it was not a dream, she took a deep breath and stretched out her wings a little before getting out of bed and put on her forced smile when going to events or when someone talked to her.

'You are a Princess of the Winged Empire! Princesses should have a smile on their faces when speaking to someone, it is only right!'

Her mother had scolded her when she had put on a scowl in front of the other Queendoms seven years ago. Her mother was like that, but her mother was still her mother and if she can't even trust her own mother then who could she even trust?

She got up and walked to her desk. "Come in!" She said loudly enough to be heard from outside of her room. A messenger came in. She had ash grey-coloured locks, amber-grey eyes that shone like silver, and delicate grey wings. She wore a small smile with kind soft eyes. Her clothes were two sizes too small for her and had holes in the fabric which looked like she had been wearing them for a few years.

The girl pulled her wings closer to her body, smiled and handed her a letter. She looked for where the name of the person who wrote the letter and it turns out it was her mother who wrote the letter. She opened the letter and was surprised as she did not think it would be her coronation banquet so soon. She frowned as she would have to dress up for this event. Not wanting the messenger to tell her mother about her frowning or cursing, she sent the girl off.

Aira paced her room back and forth, thinking about what to wear. She had absolutely no idea what to wear, she did not know that there would be a banquet for her coronation, much less that it was this evening.

After an hour of searching through her wardrobe, she finally found something to wear. She went to her vanity table and picked out the silver tiara, diamonds glittering in the afternoon sun filtering through the windows which spanned from the ground to the ceiling, an amethyst necklace as dark as the void where no light reaches, the amethyst casted rainbows of colours across the table colours of magenta, violet and lilac which casted an otherworldly glow.

'You are a princess so you have to look the part. Wear this tiara if you do not wear any jewellery. You are a Princess after all, and soon to be Crown Princess of this Empire I built so listen to me.' Her mother told her when she 'looked inadequate'

Aira had golden-brown velvety locks, hazel eyes with some flecks of gold that shone like stars in the night sky and her magnificent wings were nearly as tall as her body, arcing off her back like a concave reflection. Shades of gold and dark browns swirled together, beseeching all to come and seek the warmth of her glow. She wore an exquisite midnight blue gown, like the captivating night sky, with raven black heels, as dark as coal like pure black ravens, a silver tiara, diamonds glittering in the afternoon sun, and an amethyst necklace made of colours like violet, and lilac which casted a mystical glow.

Aira looked at herself once more in the mirror thinking, you have waited twelve years for this, this is your dream. She turned around and walked out of her room. Her guard, Aero, followed her as she walked down the different corridors, she took her time to walk thinking about when she was six, she really wanted to be the Crown Princess then but now it seemed unreal as if she was not ready for this change. As Aira was walking to the banquet hall she saw her friend Artic who is a server, friend, and her personal guard sometimes. Her thoughts drifted, Artic her friend her first true friend.
