  For "our" mate I'm using the name zu'tuk, I just picked a random name.

Y/n POV
    "Mother that's so unfair" I said not accepting the situation. She pick MY mate and you didn't even know who he was. "There's no complaining allowed, it's what's best for the family " I stood there in shock

   'she does have a point' I thought
 
"does father know about this" I asked, her expression not changing, "yes he does" replying with a simple answer. Before I started complaining again she walked away.
       
  I was mad, I didn't want to meet up with a boy who probably just wants to use me

'I'm only it for my family' you thought reminding yourself.

I walked where everybody was. I stood in the back of the crowd not wanting any attention right now. The news I just received kind of ruined my day.

"it wasn't his fault it was my idea" you heard lo'ak said making you snapped out of your thoughts. He was back and you were really glad he was ok. Observing on what was happening lo'ak was taking the blame for aonung.

I stood there confused, he could've gotten hurt way worse and he still took the blame.
   
My thoughts were disturbed by a tap on my shoulder, I turned around and it was a boy around my age slightly taller than me. "hello I'm zu'tuk I heard we were spending the day together"

oh great this day couldn't have gotten any worse.

I put on a fake smile "oh yeah it's very nice to meet you"
" would you like to go hunting together"

I was going to deny his request when mother came to mind
     'I'm only doing it for my family' you thought again accepting zu'tuk's request.
   Not being aware of a certain boy eyeing the situation.

"oohh it looks like someone beat you to it" lo'ak said
    Neteyam stood there in silence. He was jealous. From a distance he saw you smile and he made his stomach twist. He didn't like how he wasn't the one making you smile. Sooner or later he had to make his move.
  
  Zu'tuk walked with me trying to build a conversation and it started to annoyed me. We stopped hunting and now we were walking around the village. I had to admit how this dude gave me bad vibes. That smile didn't convince me at all.

  "I'm sorry am I making you uncomfortable in any way" he asked with concern. I turned around 'shit was I too obvious' you thought making you put on fake smile "N- no not at all I'm sorry it's just kind of weird since we don't really know each other and sooner or later we have to be ma-" I stopped talking.

   "mates yeah I know it can be weird, but there's no need to rush" he smiled softly
    ' no need to rush my ass' I thought. He really thought I was that dumb.
  
He kept that same smile "but hey we should get to know each other more" I nodded 'god help me' I thought. Hoping the day flew by.

As the day passed we were telling each other stories. I had admit even though he made me laughed with his stupid stories maybe he wasn't such a bad guy after all

  I was kind of sad, that is wasn't neteyam.
'Wait what was I thinking'

   "well I should probably go home" he said disturbing my thoughts.
" oh yeah I'll see you around"  he started walking away when your sis and the others were behind you. Zu'tuk already far away..
  "So mind telling us who that was" aonung and tsireya asked. I turned around to see aonung, tsireya, lo'ak and neteyam. I heart sunk seeing neteyam but quickly washed the feeling off.

"oh that was just zu'tuk, we just spend the day together, although there's something off about him."

Tsireya raised her eyebrows and softly nudged my side. I just rolled my eyes in response.
   
"and did what, I swear to god if he layed his hands on you" aonung said letting his protective brother side kick in. "he didn't do anything we just went hunting together" he looked at my eyes closely to see if I was lying. "so who exactly he is?" tsireya asked waiting my response. I stood there awkwardly.

Lo'ak and neteyam standing there also waiting to see what you would say. " he's supposed to be my ma-" you stopped yourself, everybody confused, growing more curious.

"My mate" I said quietly, while they stood there in shock. I looked at them individually looking at neteyam lastly, he looked like he was hurt.
   
   "HE'S YOUR WHAT??" they yelled at the same time expect neteyam he wasn't saying anything.

" yeah" I laughed nervously feeling the awkward tension in the air. "when did that happen" tsireya asked. "mother told me today when it was only the two of us."

Aonung didn't know what to say.
" well maybe it'll work out" lo'ak said
Aonung looked at him with a 'are u serious' look
 
" well we should all go home it's getting dark" tsireya suggested. Everybody started walking away when you saw neteyam in the corner of your eyes. My heart sunk, knowing I had no chance with him so I walked away before anything else could happen.

       Neteyam's POV
She has a mate. Are you serious, what about the times when we hanged out together. I saw lo'ak in the corner of my eye giving me a look to say something to her. My heart sunk when she started walking away. 'Say something you idiot' I thought but no words came out.
  I guess it is too late
