Neteyam feels a pang in his heart as he sees the look on your face. He can see the guilt and pain in your eyes, and it hurts him to know that you blamed yourself for what happened. Neteyam weakly tries to stop his parents from blaming you, but the pain from his injury makes it hard for him to speak up. He feels frustrated that he can't reassure you and make you understand that it wasn't your fault.

We all head back to the village as my mother Ronal helps Neteyam lay down and help take care of his wound with his family by his side. I stand by keeping my distance with a worried look on my face as I felt Neytiri's gaze and it seemed like she was judging me for letting this happen to her son. I look down feeling overwhelmed and scared.

Neteyam lies there, his face twisted in pain as his wound was getting attended. He sees your face, full of worry and guilt, and it breaks his heart. He wants to tell you that it wasn't your fault but his mother's gaze weighing on you makes him hesitate.

I decide to leave not being able to say anything. Neteyam watches me leave, his heart heavy with worry and pain. He tries to sit up to go after you, but Jake stops him, telling him to stay put and rest. Neteyam grunts in frustration, feeling helpless as he watches you walk away leaving him and his parents alone in the room. Neteyam spoke up, his voice strained.

"it wasn't her fault. I chose to protect her. I couldn't stand by and watch her get hurt. She had nothing to do with it."

His parents are stunned into silence for a moment, surprised and confused by Neteyam's defense of you. He didn't care about the looks they were giving him.

"You two are way too different, she's from the Metkayina clan. We are from the Omatikaya clan. We don't live the same life, they have different beliefs and skills that even we can't reach." Jake spoke up trying to be the calm one. Neytiri giving him a protective mother look. Neteyam knowing exactly what she was thinking and decided to speak up before she did.

"She's kind and caring, that's all that matters to me. When we first got here, my eyes first landed on her. The others looked at us different but yet she was one of the few ones to welcome us with that smile. It doesn't matter where she's from. We all have our pasts and our own struggles, but that doesn't define us. She deserves your respect and kindness just as much as everyone else."

Jake sighed and looked down, knowing that's how he taught his son. Neytiri looks at him as they both nod.
Neytiri spoke "I'll speak with her parents and see what I can do but just know we're not going to stay here forever."

Neteyam looks down knowing it was true. Jake puts a hand on his shoulder trying to comfort him.

Jake spoke up gently "tell me something son."
Neteyam looks up at him waiting for him to continue.

"Is that why you protected her? You care about her don't you?"

Neteyam looks down a bit worried about how his parents were going to react. He looks at his father and then at his mother with determination.

"Yes."

"She's important to me.."
