"What are we going to do to make sure she doesn't get captured or run away again? We have no control over her, especially with all these people worried about her. The most we can do is to lock her away somewhere, and even then, she wouldn't be very protected," a man in a white coat explains.
"Anyhow, she is awake. We will talk about this later," my Mother replies, turning to me. "I'm so glad you're awake. Your brother and your boyfriend escaped this morning, trying to take you with them but could not reach you. You have been out for quite a few days, people were worried you would die."
"Huh?"
"This isn't registering is it?"
"Not one word," I say, still out of it.
"I figured as much. Well, at least you're awake. That's one good thing we can tell everyone."
"Who's everyone? Where am I? Where's dad? Is he alive? Are you two on better terms now that you both have seen me?" I ask quickly, as if on a caffeine rush.
"What?"
"What do you mean 'What' mom?"
"I say everyone, referring to my subjects. You're in the castle's very secure side hospital wing, located on the same island since the beginning. Your Father's whereabouts are unknown, as well as his health and our "terms", as you call them. You should get some rest. I will tell the people of your speedy recovery," she says while leaving the room.
What did she mean by "they tried to get to me"? Why did they leave? Where did they have to go? I hope Dad is still alive. I still can't get over the fact that I fooled her and the other lady that I was out of it. I chuckle softly.
I wake with a start; I must have fallen asleep, It seems as though nobody is around, which may not be a good thing. I wonder if Jackson and Owen are coming to save me? Where is everyone? Maybe I can escape? Do I dare try? I wonder if this is a test. Why they would test me though, I don't know. Maybe I said something in my sleep they didn't like? I don't know, maybe I should escape. I look at my arms to see no IV's or restraints. I get up slowly and explore the room. I find my clothes and change into them. I try to find a way out of this room--it is very stuffy in here.
I open the unsecured door. "Hello?" I look around to find nobody. Are they seriously leaving me unattended? I pass by a sleeping guard. There is a dire need for more security here. Is this a dream?
"We have to get to her!" A voice shouts from far away.
Someone's looking for me! At this point, I'm not really sure who's good and who's bad. The only people I feel I can trust are Owen and Jackson. Where are they? I turn a corner and suddenly realize the compound is under attack. I turn around and quickly run in the other direction. Surprisingly, my ankle doesn't hurt at all, in fact, it feels like I'm running on air. I stop and examine my ankle. It's like it's brand new, no wounds or even a scar!
"Hey, you there! What do you think you're doing?" A man yells from behind me.
"Oh no," I whisper to myself. I quickly rise and begin running again.
"Come back here, now!"
"See ya! Wouldn't wanna be ya!" I shout and run like the wind.
Ah fresh air, what a nice change of scenery no guns, dead bodies, or even a person in sight. I would stop and enjoy the scenery but you know the idiot soldier is chasing me. Honestly he thinks he can out run me, ha that's funny I outran everyone on my soccer team for long periods of time too, at least I did...
"Beca, there you are! We've been looking all over for you. We weren't sure what had happened to you or if you were locked away," Owen says, running up to embrace me.
