"Rule # 20: No sex. I mean it. If you do, I will personally punish you both," Anna explained while glancing at me. "Rule #21: No being in the same bed--even if one of you isn't under the covers and the other is. Lastly, Rule #22:No being in the same room alone."
"Anna, that's a stupid rule. We can be in the same room as each other alone. Honestly, what do you think we will even do? And what's with all the other rules you made? Honestly, who makes a rule about talking to each other about the future--you can't stop what may happen!" Owen practically yells.
"I may not be able to stop it, but I can delay it awhile. Rebecca needs to rest, so both of you, out. Right now," Anna says with authority, pointing to the door.
Once they leave, I glare at Anna. "Do you seriously think I would have sex outside of marriage? You know that I would never, so why did you look at me specifically when you said that?" I grumble, trying to stay calm.
"I know that you would never but he was getting too much attention, so I looked at you instead. Now that they are gone, I need to talk to you. About our parents," she says, suddenly turning very serious.
"What about them?" I ask, genuinely curious and more calm than before.
"Mom made you the rightful heir to the throne after she's no longer there, didn't she? She tried to do that with me, but Dad would have none of it. That's what started this whole thing; I was 6 when this happened but you and Jackson were only 3. There's another one of us too but Dad hasn't found her yet--she was only 2 at the time. We think that Mom has already found her but she may still be out there--we just don't know where. Mom took her to another adoption agency nearby but she was just dropped off with a note. The note was meant for her to read when she turned 14, which is why we think she has her. Our parents both gathered followers quickly, and quickly, they declared war on each other. The first battle was in New York, where we lived, and Mom and Dad moved their battles south to Pittsburgh. It was not pretty; there were heavy casualties on both sides. Many died that day over one fight our parents had and more continue to die because of this...We have to stop them," Anna explains, gazing at me fiercely.
"Why couldn't the boys hear that? Also, why did they both move to the same island if that was the case? Where were you when the compound was attacked after I met Dad?" I ask.
"They already know and agreed to help me. We just need you now. I don't think they knew they were both on the same island. I was at another compound with your dad's secretary, Ava, during the attack. We organized the rescue mission but couldn't get to you, your boyfriend, and Jackson. Also I think our younger sister may have a twin too," she explains.
"Well, I guess I will have to think about it. What do you mean "our younger sister may have a twin," don't you remember? Is Dad holding back details?" I ask quietly.
"You do know that the only reason we came to you now, when you're injured, is because we need you as soon as possible. I only vaguely remember these things; we will have to ask Brooke when we find her. She would know the best, after all. They were probably dropped off together, and considering we were dropped off first, I don't know what orphanage or state to start in to find them," Anna explains. "That's where you come in; we are going to put you on a national competitive soccer team. You will travel the nation with us, looking for Brooke along the way."
"Of course I will do it! I can't wait to meet Brooke and her mysterious twin sister or brother. But are you serious about the competitive soccer team? I would have to brush up on my skills; I haven't played in awhile," I ask, excited to be able to play soccer again.
"Yes, now let's get back to our parents. Dad wants all of us kids together. I've never met Mom so I don't know how she'll act. I know that we will have to get help in order to pull this off. Do you know if any of your old teachers could help us out?" She asks calmly. I open my mouth to answer, shaking in excitement, but feel a sudden wave of tiredness from the pain medication. It is difficult to keep my eyes open so I let them close.
"Sleep well, Rebecca, we are all counting on you," Anna whispers, "...No pressure..."
