"And then she left like I asked her to. I just feel like everything is so different than it was a few months ago. At that point, I knew who I was...well, sort of. I knew what I was going to do, who my friends were, and that I didn't have to worry about the future. Now, all of those things are opposite...why does it hurt so much after you fight with someone?" I ask.
"I don't know. I wish I could give you an answer but I think only you can solve that problem. You said that you were here for 7 weeks, right?" She asks thoughtfully.
"Yeah, apparently I was here for 7 weeks unconscious," I answer suspiciously.
"I never heard about you being here, and I'm the head nurse. All of the nurses here have to tell me what's going on or if there are new patients. I wonder if you weren't at this facility originally but were moved a day or so before your friends came to rescue you. That would explain why I didn't hear that you were here. If you weren't here though, where were you?" She ponders.
"Is that a rhetorical question?" I ask, not really expecting an answer.
"Yes, now stop talking and thinking. Get some rest. I have a feeling that family drama is headed your way," She says and gets up to leave.
"Alright. Wait! I didn't get your name," I say, about to lay down and rest.
"My name isn't important for you to know, but know this. No matter what you go through with people you love, if you both love each other, you can make it through," she says and leaves.
Huh, I never thought about it that way. I hope that they come for me before my mother does. Why on earth does this room look like it's a prison cell? Who paints a recovery room a bleak gray and barely furnishes the room?
Great this is exactly what I wanted to happen, well sort of. My siblings came for me, but they came alone and turned themselves in....why? I know they love me and all but did they seriously turn themselves in to my mother, who left them all at orphanages without anyone they would know?
I am now well enough to leave my room--what impeccable timing. I wonder if the reason I was let go was because they had some sort of tracker in my ankle and when I had the surgery they found it; but everyone forgot about it until I ran away. What will I say to Owen and Anna? I left them both out in that field while they were shouting for me to come back. Jackson was the weirdest of all though, he kept saying weird things in the microphone like "The time is coming for being reunited." Honestly, what's that supposed to mean? Maybe he heard it from one of the crazy ladies around the compound; I think he was just saying it to get me to come back or something. I am close to their cells. It doesn't surprise me that my Mother put them in cells, but still, seriously? She knows Owen but I don't think she knows who Anna and Jackson are--they only revealed my name. I open the door to Anna's cell.
"Hey...." I start quietly, blinking at the dim lighting.
"Hi," she replies, purposefully looking away from me. She doesn't look too hot.
"Are you okay? You don't look too good," I ask, moving towards her hesitantly.
"Well, they haven't been treating us very well, even though we mentioned your name as soon as we got here," She replies, finally turning to look at me.
"I'm really sorry about everything. I will try to get you guys out of these cells and into semi-normal rooms. I don't think mom would've let you have a room without security clearance. How did you guys get here? Why did you come after me when I basically rejected you all?" I ask, forcing her to match my gaze.
"It's because we love you and we wouldn't let you get torn apart by "mom". Plus, Jackson and I haven't seen her since we were really little. I'm kind of surprised that she didn't recognize me at least, although I'm not really surprised, either. I'm about the same height as you but I have brownish black hair and my eyes are brown; almost the exact opposite of you. The only time she really paid attention to me was when she was trying to get me to act more ladylike," She says, getting up slowly.
"Oh. Well if that's the case, how did she recognize me?" I ask, moving toward her to help her up.
"It's possible she recognized you because you look almost exactly like her, although Jackson looks just like you too, so you would think she would recognize him as well," she says, quietly letting me help her.
"What about Owen? And let me say that I'm really sorry about what I did to you guys. I was just mad, I guess," I say, stepping back.
"I don't know where they put Owen, and your apology is accepted. Moving on, I think I will take that offer about you talking to "mom" about the room arrangements, at least until we get out of here. It will be easier to train if you don't have to ask "mom" to let us out. And one more thing," she starts, lying back down with her elbow propping her up.
"Yes?" I ask, turning to her before I leave.
"We love you no matter your mistakes. We will never abandon you and leave your side again."
