A few days had passed, and the group was still no closer to finding the thieves. Barkley was not happy.
Barkley:It's been friggen days and you STILL HAVEN'T CAUGHT THEM?!
Julie:They always get the loot as we're distracted with the-
Barkley:I DON'T CARE! Just find them or I-I...Do something serious!
He then left and slammed the door.
Shark:Now I see where Fox gets her short fuse from.
Julie:Yeah. Being with someone like that would make anyone easily irritated.
Hyena:Speaking of Carmelita, I've noticed that she's been making odd phone calls.
Tarantula:Phone calls?
Hyena:Yeah. I found her speaking to someone over the phone.
Shark:Maybe she's working with the thieves?
Wolf:Or maybe it's none of our business.
Diane:Actually, now that Hyena mentions it, she has seemed like she was a little anxious to get back home. Almost like she had somebody to come back to. Maybe I can go talk to her.
Wolf:Guess it's worth a shot.
When Carmelita was finishing another call, Diane decided to question her.
Diane:Speaking to your partner?
Carmelita:It...it's nothing...
Diane:Oh, so you won't mind if I ask a few questions. Like who are you speaking to?
Carmelita:It's none of your business.
Diane was not going to back down. Carmelita tried throwing a punch, but Diane blocked it.
Diane:Are you forgetting who I used to be?
Carmelita tried throwing a few more punches, but Diane managed to block and dodge every one of them. The confrontation ended with Diane knocking Carmelita off her feet.
Diane:Look, we don't know you very well. And when you make secretive phone calls like this, is it really hard to blame me for being suspicious?
Carmelita looked down and the ground.
Diane:If you want to trust us, I think it's best if we trust you first.
She then helped Carmelita up.
Carmelita:Fine. I...have a son...
Diane was surprised.
Diane:R...really?
Carmelita clenched her left arm.
Carmelita:His name is Ethan. Nine years old, around the same age as your daughter.
Diane now realized why she was so secretive about the whole thing.
Diane:You were scared that we would do something to him...weren't you?
Carmelita:...Yes...
Diane:It's alright, I get it. Take it from a mother herself. Wanting to protect your kid.
Carmelita:It's just, because of my job, he's always been worried about me.
Diane:Can't your husband look after him?
Carmelita looked at her with sorrowful look.
Diane:Oh...So you're all on your own?
Carmelita:Yes.
Diane:Well...maybe Julie could hang out with him and protect him.
Carmelita:Are you sure?
Diane:Trust me. She is pretty skilled in a fight.
