Saying that they were all concerned and stressed was an understatement.
Tim was about to punch someone, Jackson and Nolan looked like they were about to cry, Nyla was being rude to everyone, Grey had finished a complete bottle of anxiolytics and Angela was on the verge of a panic attack. It had been two days since Lucy was kidnapped and still had no clues. They didn't no if the young officer was hurt or even worse dead.
She had disappear without trace as if she had just vanished out of nowhere. It all started when Lucy didn't show up to work on Monday, they thought she was just running late at first but after several phone calls with no answer they knew something was up.
It was their fault, Jackson had told them he was worried for Lucy when she wasn't at their apartment that morning which was odd since everytime she would get to work earlier or would stay over a friend for the night she would let him know so he wouldn't worry. And when he didn't get any text or phone call he knew something was up.
But they all decided to brush it asaide. Stupid mistake, they were all police officers for God sake! They should have known something was wrong and still decided to ignore the signals.
They could've acted sooner and the young woman would be safe with them. But they also knew Lucy was having a date that night, Nyla and Angela had helped her getting ready and giving her advices. Commonly they thought her date had went really well and had fallen asleep. And now they knew that was obviously not the reason.
Angela was on the edge, they all could see it but didn't dare to mention it. All of them knew Lopez could sometimes be protective over Lucy, since the day the younger brunette first walked through the building doors Angela had quick taken her under her wing.
Maybe it is because Lucy has the age Angela's daughter would be and that made Lopez motherly insticts kick in. But that was just Tim and Harper's theory, not that Angela needed to know if they were wrong and they mention it, Angela would get depressed by the memories. Though Nyla was hurting too, she is or had been Amelia's godmother.
She had been there when the little girl was born and seeing so much similarities between Chen and Amelia hurt which made her not like Lucy very much even if the woman had started to grow on her lately.
That didn't mean she wasn't worried for the young officer.
All they knew was that Caleb, Lucy's date, had drugged her to then follow to kidnapped her. It was frustrating, everything was a mess. And hours later they found out Rosalind Dyer was obviously behind this.
Caleb and her had been working along side and somehow Chen had managed to get involved on their mess. And God knows why they had choosen Lucy as their next victim. But knowing what Rosalind could do worried them the most.
At this point Lucy could easly be dead. But there was a hint of hope when they recieved a photo. Lucy's photo. She was knocked out on the floor, her face was bruised and her clothes was all dirty, there was a house behind her and lucky enough, Angela was able to recognized it.
It felt as if time had stopped. They were all rushing to find the place where Lucy was being held captive but it didn't feel as if they were being fast enough specially now knowing that the officer had been buried alive and they didn't know how long would it take her to run out of oxygen. Bradford's heart was beating faster than ever and his ears were ringing, it was all his fault.
He shouldn't had pressured his boot on going out with someone else. He knew she had only accepted to please him, he knew Chen really didn't wanted to go for drinks with someone else. It took Tim a moment to understand that those were Lucy's insticts kicking in, telling her that Caleb wasn't safe and he basically told her to ignore them.
They all hoped it wasn't too late when they found her.
Who knew finding someone buried in the middle of the desert was so hard?
Until Tim saw that ring, that damn ring had saved her life. But Lucy wasn't breathing when they got her out, she looked wrecked. Now she was all covered in dirt, tears cleaning some of the soil that painted her cheeks, her hair was all tangled and the rope marks on her wrists and ankles were terrible.
Maybe it was the PTSD what made Angela rememeber her daughter. Of the day she was abducted and how she wasn't there to protect her, it made her think of where her kid could be at the moment or what did she like or what did she study or how does she looks like, of what could've been if she had been able to find Amelia.
Angela was frozen as she Tim performing CPR on the unconscious officer. It took Lucy's sobs to snap her out of her trance and a relived sigh left her body. Though Chen's cries were heartbreaking, Lucy was alive.
She was going to be fine. Hearing her cry meant she was alive and that was enough comfort for them.
The young brunette was quickly rushed to the hospital. They said she was going to be okay, they said Lucy just needed some rest and to be hydrated. What worried them was her mental state, no one actually knew what Caleb had done to Lucy or what trauma she would now have.
No matter how long it would take them, all of them would be there to help Lucy. Just seeing her as she laid on the strecher made their heart ache. She looked so small, young and vulnerable.
But Chen was strong, they knew she would be okay and keep going. But for now all they could do was wait.
Bradford, Nolan and Jackson stayed with her the whole night. Angela wanted to be there but for some reason she couldn't put her finger on made her incapable of it. It was just too painful to see Lucy on the state she was on.
So she did what she did the same thing of when Amelia was abducted. She started to overwork herslef to keep her mind occupied. It was just all too much, the memories and pain of her baby and the sound of Lucy's sobs and gasps of air plus the state they found her on.
A part of her felt like she should have been there for Lucy and make sure she was alright. Check on her, text her during her date to make sure she was fine. She had seen how overwhelmed and uncomfortable the officer looked before going out.
She should have done something. It made her feel like it was her fault, it was all like Amelia all over again. Maybe she was getting to attached to the other woman, maybe she should push her away before it's too late. But Angela couldn't bring herself to do so, she didn't want to.
Was she just trying to replace Amelia with Lucy? She had never felt this way with no one but her baby... Was it wrong? It didn't feel wrong. She was just one of Lucy's TO, she felt so confused. There was just this connection between them or that's least what Lopez felt since day one. Or maybe she was being ridiculous and it was all in her imagination and Lucy just saw her as a friend or acquaintance.
If Angela only knew that day would change her life forever...
