CHAPTER 1 - NEVER BEGINNINGS, OLD PAIN -

ROSELYN.

It was time to get ready. No matter how long I tried to stall it, it wouldn't change the fact, that today was my very first day at Compton High School.
I was afraid.
Afraid because my experiences with High School weren't exactly good.
In fact, I have experienced bullying.
For years.
It was hard growing up with no to only a few friends.
Friends who turned their back on me too, because they didn't want to experience what I had.

I've been insulted and even hit by girls.
Until this day, I had no idea why.
What have I done to them?
Why should they make my life miserable?
I wondered every day.
But to this day I never got answers.
I came home every day crying.
My mother didn't care.
She only cared about herself since my father had left her for a younger woman.
She started drinking, smoking, too.
Before that, she was alright.
She wasn't the best mother I could ask for, but she was my mom and it felt like she cared at least a little about me.
Now it doesn't feel like it at all.

That wasn't even the worst part of it.
The worst part was her boyfriend Brody.
Why?
You'll find out.

I didn't have time left so I speeded to the bathroom and quickly washed my face and brushed my teeth.
Once I was done I got back to my room and put on an outfit.

I took my brush and started brushing my hair

I took my brush and started brushing my hair.
My hair was dark brown and naturally curled.
But, I had straightened it the day before, which was why it's now straight.
I looked at my long hair and put my brush away.
I took my bag and left my room, walking downstairs.

When I arrived downstairs, I saw my mom sitting on the couch.
On the table in front of here I saw a bottle of vodka laying.
An empty bottle, I might add.
She looked like she was passed out.

Inwardly I sighed.

I walked towards the door and wanted to open it, but somebody beat me to it.
A 6 feet man opened the door and blocked my way.
My heart picked up speed, immediately, when I saw him.
In his hands, he held car keys and a half full bottle of beer.
Avoiding looking at his eyes, I tried walking past him, but he blocked me by putting himself in front of me.

"When are you off today?" He asked.

I swallowed quietly by the smell of his breath.

"3 pm." Quietly, I said.

"You come home right after that, yeah?"
