CHAPTER 9 -

ROSELYN.

But was that what I really wanted?
Ending it?
Ending my life?
I knew I was too scared to do that.
Like I was too scared of everything.

I was glad when the first two classes were over.
In my lunch break, I met up with Gaby and her friends to eat something.
While eating they talked about the party tonight.
I was still torn between if I should go or not.
I was scared of the consequences this could have for me.
Still, anything was better than staying the night at home, in my bed, waiting for Brody to come in.

The school day wasn't long.
Still not sure whether this was a good thing or not, I walked to the bus station.
But once again, I waited for a different bus than the one I was supposed to take to get home.
Home.
It didn't feel like a home.
It felt like a prison.
Maybe even worse than that.

I got in the bus once it arrived.
After finding an empty seat, in the filled bus, I sat down and looked out of the window.
It was starting to rain.
Luckily, I'd be driving for a while.
Out of my bag, I got my book out and started reading the page I had stopped at.

Probably more than an hour had gone by, when I reached the last stop.
Involuntary, I got off the bus and found myself in the rain.
The sun was nowhere to be seen, and I could tell, it was about to get dark soon.
Therefore, I started to walk to the other bus station where my bus should arrive soon.
I sat down on the bench and continued reading.

After a while of reading, I realized that some time had passed.
It had gotten dark, the street walks were emptier, so was the road.
I checked my phone.
When I unlocked it, I saw a few messages coming from Brody.
Those I ignored, consistently.
I checked the online plan for my bus and quickly noticed that my bus had been cancelled.
"Fuck." I whispered to myself.
The next one, would be here in about 40 minutes.
I can't wait that long.
If I'm not home soon, I'm gonna be in a lot of trouble, if I'm not already, considering Brody's messages.
I locked my phone again and went trough my hair with one hand.
I couldn't possibly walk home.
Even the bus ride would take me about an hour.
On foot, that would probably be double the time.
Plus, I didn't really feel safe walking home.
I've never been around here and it was late.
I'm not sure, I was even able to find the way home all by myself.

"Roselyn?"

I flinched as I suddenly perceived a voice in this deathly silence.
My head turned to my left.
"Erling."
Confused and surprised at the same time I looked up to him.

He was standing in the rain, looking at me, confused as well

He was standing in the rain, looking at me, confused as well.
"What are you doing here?"
He asked.

I swallowed.
I could hardly tell him, that I was hiding from Brody.
"Reading."
That's the only thing that I got out.
His eyes turned to the book, which laid next to me on the bench.
"At a bus station? In the rain?"
