JENNIE'S POV
My headphones in. Ignoring the world while I run through Seoul on my daily routine. I woke up much earlier and couldn't go back to sleep.
I left the kids with the babysitter. She's more like a 24/7 Nanny. She kinda became one of my best friends. Not best friend like Chaesoo, but close enough. Chaesoo has been busy with their businesses and have been traveling overseas, so I hardly get to see them. By the way...Her name is Sorn. She's Thai like Lisa...she reminds me of her, but I don't look at her like I do Lisa. I miss her.
Damn it Ruby Jane. Get over her. She sees you after disappearing and tries to run away...again.
A tear runs down my cheek and I quickly wipe it away, so that people don't think I'm crazy. Running and crying...
Just to think that things were doing great without her...To think that I was already getting over her; she pops back. I know she probably didn't mean to, but her big brother is getting married. Bammy would be so upset if she didn't show up.
I'm still running with my head running faster than I am with all these thoughts. I just need to talk with her, but I don't know if sh—
"WATCH IT!" It's her.
"You again." She slightly whispers. I clear my throat and look up into my favorite brown orbs.
"Lisa." I say out of breath. I pick up my AirPods from the ground and stick it in my pocket.
"What are you—"
"Morning Routine. I uhh, I jog every morning here."
"Oh." She tosses her food in the trash next to the bench.
"So..." She looks at me, and does that thing she always does. Sticks her hand in her pockets and avoids eye contact when she feels awkward.
"I gotta go. Bam Bam wants me to get my suit fitted for the wedding." We stare at each other and all I want to do is hug her and never let go.
"Right...I have to finish my run." She starts to walk away when I stop her.
"Lisa, wait..." She stops and looks at me.
"I know...well...it's just...can we talk? Maybe over Dinner? Are you busy tonight?"
"What about him? Wouldn't he get mad?" She raises her eyebrow to me. Rowoon. Right.
"He's name is Rowoon. It's not what you think and I can tell you more about him at dinner?"
"Umm...okay...sure. I can do dinner. I'll pick you up? 7pm okay?"
"Yes. Umm...same place." She nods and starts walking again.
"Lisa..." She turns around again looking at me with a hint of sadness in her eyes.
"It's good to see you again." A small smile appears on her face and I smile back to her.
"It's good to see you again too."
...
"SORN! HELP!" I'm in my closet trying to figure out what to where for my date...I mean talk...with Lisa.
"UNNIE WHAT'S THE MATTER" She comes rushing and panting for air into the the closet like she just ran from a crazy maniac.
"Black or Red?" I show her two dresses and she facepalms herself and shakes her head.
"Unnie for the life of Jisoos you scared me and I thought something was really wrong." She laughs and takes both dresses from me.
"There is something wrong. I'm going to have a date with Lisa. She's back. I mean talk with Lisa, and I don't know what to wear." I pout to her and she laughs while talking both dresses and puts them up against my body one at a time.
"Mmmm...Black. You can never go wrong with a tiny black dress."
"Thank you!" I take the dress and start to put it on. She helps me zip up the back and I continue to figure out what else I should wear.
"Kids are eating. I'm going to help Theo finish homework. I'll bathe them and get them to bed early. But also date? With Lisa? As in Baby Daddy?" What about Rowoon?" She looks at me and raises her eyebrow.
"I said talk Sorn. Yes...baby daddy that disappeared and now she's back. And you know Rowoon is just courting me. Maybe not even courting. You set us up on a date, which was yesterday. I told you I didn't want to go on a date, but you insisted that I meet him. And it wasn't even a date when your kids are with you."
"Okay well you kept saying you had the kids. At least he isn't weird that you are a single mom with kids."
"He is really nice Sorn. But after yesterday."
"Lisa I know...Rowoon told me that he pretended to be your boyfriend. Called you babe and everything because he said he felt like something awkward was going on."
"It was very sweet of him, but then this morning when I was thinking while running...it all ran through my head and all I wanted to say to her was that we weren't dating and he is just pretending and this is the first date, etc..." Should I tell her that I bumped into her?
"Unnie. You didn't even take his number when he offered it after lunch. He told me he got the message, but also understood. I'm sorry I thought maybe you both could start a bond from experiencing the same thing...you know relationship wise. But also how did you set up a "talk" with Lisa? Bam Bam?" Okay telling her I guess...
"I ran into her like literally on my morning run. Thank you for trying, but when she left...I really couldn't look at anyone they way I do to her. I don't know what will happen after this talk..."
"Date." Sorn smirks at me and I roll my eyes and correct her.
"I said Talk."
"Keep telling yourself that Unnie. Let me go make sure the kiddos didn't start a food fight."
"Thank you Sorn. You're like a best friend to me too you know. I should just say you are a best friend."
"Thank you for taking me in Unnie. You've made the transition of Thailand to Korea much easier for me. But also teaching me Korean and giving me a job. I didn't think it was going to be hard finding a job as a foreign exchange student." She's about to leave my room when she turns around.
"If Lisa doesn't drool over you in that dress, let me know where she live so I can go knock some sense into her brain. Sexy Unnie!" She winks at me and laughs as she heads downstairs.
I blush and look at myself in the mirror. Will Lisa like my dress? Is it too much? Ughhh...why would she even care? Why am I worried about talking with her? It's just talking and eating...
