Rhea's POV:
It's been two days since the broken angel incident and I'm trying my hardest to be on my best behavior.
I ended up telling Savannah everything that went down and she thought it was the funniest shit she's ever heard.
Yes, please laugh at my expense.
I also made sure that Graham know how in debt to me he was. I was not letting him off the hook after the pain I endured in that altercation.
Speaking of Graham, him and I were currently kicking the ball back and forth. I've lived up to my promise so far and have had him doing soccer drills that I used to do when I played, but the kid wasn't kidding when he said he sucked. He wasn't exactly the most graceful and tripped over the ball more than he was standing, couldn't get a shot to save his life, and got distracted easily. Savannah's two left feet looked like a professional compared to this kid.
"How much longer until your first game?" I ask.
It's a small town, so the school has made desperate attempts to keep the soccer team going. Meaning, they let any kid participate in the sport, so his shitty aim aside... he still got on the team.
"I have a game this weekend." He answers nervously.
"You know, they need another coach. My old one ended up getting knocked up, so she has to take care of the baby." He states.
"Oh? Are you suggesting I help coach you? Because that's kind of a lot to ask from someone who is still in debt to me." I say jokingly.
"You're real funny," He says sarcastically. "But seriously, You should consider it. I think I've gotten better since you started helping me."
It's true, he has. It's only been two days, but I've quickly figured out that he just needs a lot of reassurance and praise. He doesn't exactly have a lot of faith in himself and lacks confidence. I think it also helps when the help is coming for someone that isn't obligated to be nice to you. It feels a little more genuine.
"You've still got a lot of work ahead of you kid but yes, you have come a far way in the little time we've had." I say.
He smiles a faint smile, "thanks."
We put the ball away and call it quits for the day before heading into the house where Cami seems to be frantically looking for something.
"Looking for something?" I ask.
Cami and I haven't magically started to get along but I'm trying to be nice. I'm a firm believer that if you put good into the universe, you get good back so I've been trying my best to be as nice as possible when I'm around her and I think it's working. For example; I say 'good morning' to her and she ignores me, but at least she doesn't yell at me... that's progress.
"Um, actually, yeah." She says, straightening out her top.
"I'm running late for a work thing and I can not find my Cartier earrings. Have you seen them?" She asks with hesitancy in her voice.
I'm sure I'm the last person she wants to ask for help, but desperate times call for desperate measures and unfortunately for her, I'm her last best shot. This also can maybe help me win some brownie points with her and maybe I'll work my way up to a 'good morning' response.
"No, I haven't seen them but I'll keep an eye out for them. What do they look like?" I ask.
"Should be gold, thin hoops. I could've sworn they were in my jewelry box but when I went in there, they were gone." She says.
This is progress, we're talking.
"I'll look for them, but you better get going." I say.
Her facial expression softens from tensed to relaxed.
