Cami's POV:
"I'll race you there!" I yell as I pass Rhea around the bend that leads to the dock.
I noticed her start to slow up a little awhile back and conserved my energy until we got closer to the dock before picking up my pace, so I could beat her cute ass there for once.
We've been running every morning for the last few days and so far, I have yet to beat her there. It's not like it's a competition, but I still want to win.
I smile as I take my lead and get close to the entry, until I hear her heavy feet come up beside me and feel her hands tickle my sides as she passes me.
"You cheater!" I yell as I try to catch up.
I watch as she disappears behind the the trees and notice she's nowhere to be seen as I enter.
"Rhea?!" I yell out.
I hear nothing in return. She can't be too far, as she just entered... so where the fuck is she?
I try to control my breathing and catch my breath as I scan the tree line, but no tall beauties to be seen. It doesn't help that I can't hear much other than my pounding heartbeat in my ears as I continue to walk along the treeline and look for her.
"Rhea, this isn't funny." I lecture as start to feel a bit of fear creep up inside me.
She was just here and no one knows about this place, I try to reassure myself. There's no way someone could have hurt her or something bad could have happened... right?
I feel my heart start to pick up again as the anxiety starts to kick in and I frantically scan my surroundings.
"Rhea?!" I yell out as I run my fingers through my hair.
I instantly pull out my phone and click on her contact as I'm about to call her when I feel her hands grab my sides.
"Boo." She says in my ear.
"You asshole." I say as I turn around and punch her arm.
My heart pounds against my chest as I try to comprehend that she's in front of me, but the fear quickly turns to anger as I listen to her fit of laughter.
"You think this is funny?" I ask as I push her shoulders.
"I think it's hilarious." She says as she hunches over, holding her chest from laughing so hard.
I uncap my water bottle and throw its contents at her as I seethe at her reaction.
"Hey!" She protests, but this time I'm the one laughing at her drenched disposition.
"You think this is funny?" She asks.
"I think it's hilarious." I say, mocking her tone.
"You fucker." She says with a smirk on her lips.
I watch her start to advance towards me and I quickly try to run away from her, but she grabs me before I can even get my footing.
"Put me down!" I protest as she picks me up and carries me bridal style, like the night she brought me home drunk.
That night is a memory I've kept to myself, not letting on that I have any remembrance of it when Rhea and I talk, but the truth is - I remember the night like it was yesterday. Rhea took care of me with such gentleness and care, quite opposite of the Rhea that is currently carrying me to the end of the dock.
"Do not throw me in!" I lecture as I grip onto her tightly.
"You got me wet, it's only fair if it get you wet." She says as a smirk forms on her lips.
