I was surprised to see Miles in the hallway, and not to mention smiling. I engaged him in a small conversation. He fumbled around with his words and I smiled at him.

I remembered our time on the satellite. I missed that old Miles. He was different ever since he had forgotten me, forgotten his past. I was jostled out of my thoughts by him saying sorry.

"It's fine." I replied as I reached out a casual hand. As our skin touched, I was transported into his brain.

I didn't know what was happening for a second.

My thoughts swirled into a blur and my vision whipped into multiple views at once. In a matter of moments I was transported from the hallway to an inky whiteness. The air was thick around me and had no color. I wouldn't even be able to call it white. It led everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Everything I took notice of contradicted itself. It was confusing.

Turning my head to the side, I could make out moving things in the distance. I took a step towards it, and seeing that I could step on the white vastness, moved forward.

My movements were sluggish and slow. Even though I felt normal I was being slowed down for some reason. I raised my fingers and snapped. I watched, entranced, as they moved slowly as if through an invisible sludge and connected. A large noise reverberated through the whiteness.

Suddenly the thing I had seen moving, moved closer. I walked towards the haze I saw in the distance.

When I reached it, I saw a curtain of darkness. Behind the darkness faint colors banged against it. I walked forward through the curtain. A sudden realization struck me: this was the gate of forgotten memories.

My ability let me take memories from the darkness, but the times before, I only felt the so-called gate of forgotten memories, never actually physically seeing it. It was an altogether weird experience. I watched the colors fly by.

I stepped away from the curtain and walked past it.

As I passed by, I saw Miles. He was fighting a hornet. I stepped forward seeing if I could draw him out of the trance, and try to figure out where we were. I reached out. My hand passed through him.

Suddenly, another Miles popped up next to the first one. This time he was with Audrey and Daniel. Then, another popped up. This continued until I was surrounded by more than a hundred fake Miles, different people joined him in each scene.

They all acted out something different, I realized I was watching memories. I was physically in Miles's brain!

I walked to a memory with Ayo. As I grew close enough I stepped into the Miles apparition. As I did I was transported even more into his memory. This time I could see the surroundings and hear what they were saying.

Miles was breathing hard as he fought with Ayo.

"Focus." Ayo said and attacked again. I took a step back and I was back in the blank whiteness filled with the memories. I walked to different memories peeking into different scenes.

I traveled farther and farther down and I realized the farther I went down the newer the memories were. I kept moving forward interested to see what his brain contained.

I peeked into the memory of me telling him a story. I smiled as I heard him laugh. I stepped back out and walked down further.

As I walked further down I saw the memories change. They themselves had a light blue glow around them. My brow furrowed, what was different in these memories?

I stepped into the first one finding one of Miles's earlier memories. He was sitting by a tree, blood streaming down his face. Emma walked into the memory, she dug through her bag getting out medical supplies. She stitched him up and he thanked her slowly. As they realized that they both had lost their memories, I saw a clear look of relief on Miles's face and another look of admiration.
