Healing Sakura

2. I couldn't protect you

Shikamaru could be found strolling the street, clutching a pink purse in his left hand whilst his right was casually in his pocket, staring at the stars as he walked. He remembered how Sakura smiled as he told her about the Medicinal plants on his families land, wanting to harvest samples to see what could be useful. When it came to her field, the glimmer in her eyes he could find himself lost in.

Walking to her office at the Academy for Medic-Nin, he felt a flutter, seeing her again left a smirk on his face. Walking in and to her office, he could see the door ajar and the light on.

'She must still be there' he thought as he went and knocked before entering, but what he saw made him turn pale.

Sakura's naked bruised body lay there, hands pinned by Kunai above her head, blood and fluid littered her thighs, he knew, he knew of her virginity, after saving herself for a certain male, then throwing herself into her passion, she had never had time for dating or entertaining a relationship. 

Rushing over, Shikamaru swiftly took out the Kunai which resulted in her gasping in shock, her hands came to her chest in pain. He wanted to hug her, assure her but at the same time scared to touch her.

"What happened?" he asked, holding his hand to her cheek resulting in her flinching as she looked around, this pained him. Her purse discarded, that was no longer important.

Her eyes were like a stunned animal  in the face of it's hunter, raising his hands in view he spoke softly

"Okay, okay" getting up slowly he reached over her desk to grab a throw he spotted, opening it up and gently draping it over her shoulders, "Sakura," he whispered, "Is anything broken?" he kept his eyes on her face, eyes darting around seemingly to be thinking, she shook her head no.

"Okay, I will be picking you up gently" he announced, making sure she was aware of what was happening. Along with the throw tucked underneath, he scooped her up, making sure she was secure, her breathing laboured "Shhhh, I promise you, you're safe, you have my word" he whispered into her temple, slowly her breathing eased, he could feel her body ease and a hand grasped his top from underneath the throw along with a painful wince, holding on, Shikamaru bolted for the Hospital.

Upon arrival, Sakura's eyes were closed, asking the receptionist for Ino and a private room, he placed Sakura delicately on the bed, closing the blinds to the room as Ino entered. There was silence, turning he could see the panic on her face, frozen in place.

"What - " Ino started

"We went out to dinner after she finished work, she forgot her purse, I should have walked with her, she wanted to get some paperwork before going home." Shikamaru started "I - found her like this" Ino had already started walking over " Hands pinned above her head with a Kunai" Ino lifted up the throw, getting a good look, she turned and threw up in the nearest trash can. 

"Shikamaru" Ino composed herself, getting up slowly "Watch over her for a moment please?" She couldn't look at him, in fear she would break down, that just couldn't happen, not yet and she left the room.

Walking over to her bedside, he moved some of her hair away from her face, showing the shiner on her jaw, tracing it with his thumb, twinges in his heard could be felt as he caught his breath, running his hand gently back up fingers lacing her hair, thumb tracing her brow.

"I am so sorry" he whispered, leaning down, he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, lingering just a little, before resting his forehead against hers. It wasn't long before the door opened again, standing up straight, he could hear Tsunade's voice.

"Shikamaru?" stepping aside so she can see who was laying on the bed "Sakura?!" panic on her face "What happened?!" anger now laced

"I will be waiting outside, please see to her first" Shikamaru excused himself, passing Shizune, TenTen and Hinata, I looked at Ino, giving her a nod before I left and sat on the waiting seats just outside.

After what seemed like a while, a despaired cry came from the women inside, and Tsunade emerged, looking Shikamaru dead in the eyes

"Follow me" Was all she said as she took to her office.

"Tell me, what happened" pouring herself a drink and shotting it.

"After Sakura finished her class we went to dinner to discuss Medicinal herbs on the Nara land, and arranging harvesting permissions, she wanted to drop by her office to pick up paperwork before going home, I noticed she left her purse, when I arrived at her office I saw her pinned and in the condition she's in, that's when I brought her here." Tsunade took a while to consider what Shikamaru said, another shot to calm her nerves.

"Don't breathe a word to a soul. This is now a classified mission, I want you to get Kakashi and Sai, don't delay" 

"Yes My lady" with that, Shikamaru left. Pouring another cup, her stomach turned, when suddenly her gut was purging over a bin near her desk. 

Ino shared memory recollection with them as they tried to astatine what happened, every detail of the encounter burned in her mind, replaying the event, oh how Tsunade would love to torture that bastard.
