He had a headache, his head pulsated heavily. His cat lay next to him.
He got up and washed his face in the sink. The time was, six-thirty, it was the eighteenth of December. He was alone, with his cat, his thoughts, and the buzzing in his head and taste in his mouth.
He smelt of alcohol and smoke, it was stuck on him, the taste on his breath and smell in his hair. His cat looked up at him. "Sweetie, you must be hungry?"
The cat meows. He feeds her, than sits down at the couch.
With nothing to do, he checks in his pocket. A entire pack of cigarettes. She probably put it in his pocket when he was drunk. He really didn't remember much.
He opened it, two were missing from the pack. He took one out and put the rest in his top drawer he hid it there.
He got a lighter from a junk drawer. He lit the cigarette and sat on the couch breathing the smoke. It felt smooth and dry, his head hurt as his ears rung.
The door bell rang. He got up went to the bathroom and flushed his cigarette, before running to the door, opening it.
It was his friend, James, he had a bag in his hand. "Hey Noah, you good?"
James stood at the door,"Oh, yeah."
James walked in and sat the bag on the table.
"Did you just wake up?"
"Uh, oh, yeah I did."
"Well, you have to hurry, if you're going to make it on time."
"What?"
"You didn't forget, Aaron's birthday."
"Fuck, I did!"
Lucky ran in his room, James was wide-eyed, Lucky wasn't the type to swear. Not at all, ever.
Lucky quickly got dressed, and grabbed the small bag that had his friends present from his closet.
"You ready?" James was on the couch petting Sweet Tart.
"Yeah. Lets hurry."
James grabbed the bag and they left. They drove to their friend, Aron's house. Aron was one of many of Lucky's friends. He was a bit on the heavy side, with brown curly hair.
Aron's father was a police officer, but still found time to be with his son. Lucky wasn't so lucky.
When they got there, James said bye to his mom, than rang the door bell, their dogs barked from the backyard.
Aron's grandmother opens the door,"Oh, Aron, your other friends are here."
She let them in the big house. They took off their shoes, when they entered, "Guys, finally, why are you two so late?"
"Not my fault, Noah completely forgot your birthday."
"I still got you something." Lucky held the bag out.
"Really, your gifs are always over the top, Noah." Aron took the bag.
"Maybe not this year, something's just messed me up."
"That's why your kinda- different?" Aron pointed out.
"It's very obvious." James looked at Lucky.
"You boys ready?" Aron's mom called out in front of everyone.
It was time for Aron to open his gifs. "I'm saving Noah's for last."
He opened other gifts. His face lit up to everyone, till Lucky's was left.
Lucky was good at getting gifts, he had gotten Aron a gift a month before, just to plan ahead.
Aron was very nice and he was in a band with Lucky and Madison, his other friend.
When Aron opened a gift it was very expensive headphones. Aron liked music, and loved to sing, the headphones is what he would constantly complain about: his headphones dying fast, or his mic would constantly brake.
The more expensive it was the better it had been for Aron's taste.
After that they had cake, Lucky had made the excuse of not being hungry, his friends knew that Lucky liked cake, he had a big sweet tooth.
Afterwards they went upstairs to Aron's room,"You guys want to stay the night?"
"Yeah, sure." James sat on the bed with Aron."I- I don't know if I can. I think- I have work tomorrow."
"That sucks." James sighed,
"my mom will give you a ride later, kay?"Aron said as he started play videogames, James laughed at the things that Aron was doing.
They were playing GTA 3, Aron stole a car and was running from police cars while driving on the sidewalk.
Eventually he crashed the car upside-down, it exploded. They started a new game at the hospital, where they stole an unlocked ambulance, "Run over that girl over there."
James pointed at the screen,"Were?"
"Right there, hit her, take her money."
The thought of him saying that made Lucky fell sick. He got up and went to the bathroom.
The bathroom was in Aron's room. Lucky gaged with the thought of knowing that the prostitute, Trisha, was dead and her body had been use for sexual pleasure, he knew, Willow told him, saying that if he told anybody she would do the same to him.
He wished and only wished it wasn't real. He had wished he could have done something. He gaged, he hasn't eaten in six days, he started to sweat.
He took of his hoodie his cuts showed brightly. He got up and washed his face in the sink, he was breathing heavily. He waited till he was ready to be around people.
When was ready to be around people, he didn't want to be touched. He put his hoodie on and left the bathroom, they were still messing around on the game. James turns to Lucky,"Hey, Noah, my mom said I couldn't stay far from our house. Your house is closer, could I stay over?"
"Uh, Yeah, sure." Lucky doesn't think.
"Great, we'll leave at four."
They continue to play video games till four. Aron's mom made Aron go with, as James and Lucky sat in the back.
"You know it's a bit immature for a 16 year old to have a birthday party like yours."
"Not if I paid for it!" Aron and his mom talked in the front seat, James sat in silence with Lucky.
Lucky looked out the window, he felt a slight touch of James's hand against his, Lucky pulled his hand up and put them in between his thighs and sat on them.
He made himself feel small. James looked at Lucky, he noticed how he seemed uneasy.
Lucky didn't say anything about it, he was waiting for something. They pulled up in front of Lucky's house, they got out.
