"Please be honest with me... how is my condition?", I nervously ask our surgeon. At first he tries to calm me down but that didn't help at all which he eventually noticed. "It's not worse than your last examination but it's also not better." "So my health hasn't made any progress? How frustrating..."
"We will find a way to cure you." I wish. I smile sadly. "Don't tell anybody about my weak heart. Especially not Kid. It must stay a secret between you and me, okay?" My request irritates Boogie immensely and asks for the reason.
"I don't need any more pity from the others, you give me enough of that; even too much in my opinion... No matter how strong I may be or I prove myself and prove my loyalty to y'all every single day, because I'm the only woman here on board, I'm still not accepted as a full member until now.
Kid treats me stricter than everyone else and now please imagine if they knew about my weak heart? Ha ha... Kid wouldn't hesitate a second longer and throw me off the team. After all... he doesn't need weaklings like me to make his dream come true."
I don't wanna see these faces... I want them to be happy. So I gotta pull myself together and take my medicines. Just smile and act like your chest doesn’t hurt.
Subsequently I say goodbye to Boogie and go to the deck where I want to get some fresh air. How I love the breeze from the ocean... it almost makes me forget my health. "CAPTAIN!! THE NEXT ISLAND ISN'T FAR AWAY! WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO REACH IT TOMORROW!" Finally! We're running outta food.
After that, Kid commands us all to come over to him. Our captain assigns us our tasks for example who should get food, medicine, weapons and many other things. "Y/N, you will buy food!", he yells in his usual aggressive tone.
"Can someone accompany me? Because I have to buy lots of food and drinks..." "Do it on your own." "But-" "Shut up! That's an order from your captain, got it?!" "Yes..."
That's gonna be tough. Ughhh... Nevermind. He's the captain. Even if his commands sometimes are really weird. Now I have to write everything we need down. But damn... he's so hot! Why did I fall in love with this aggressive, insensitive asshole again?
With great care I check and write down those ingredients that I have to get tomorrow. Actually, I have to buy almost everything new: from bread, meat, eggs and flour to all the spices like coriander, turmeric, parsley ─ and whatever they're called ─ and the most important ingredient of them all is sake.
"Maaan... tomorrow will be a very exhausting day", I sigh knowing well what's coming to me, "on the other hand... I'm happy that we finally found an island after w-"
Suddenly I start to cough real hard that I fell to the ground. Not this again! I can't let the others hear me. With all my strength I hold my hand in front of my mouth to curb my loud cough. Hopefully nobody hea- "What's this fucking noise?!"
At this moment Kid's entering the kitchen and looks down to me while I look at him and then at my hand. Blood... I coughed blood. Why? The medicine should- "Woman! What're doing here so late? Everyone's asleep." "I just wanted to check what I need to buy tomorrow at the island." Did he not notice my bloody hand palm?
"Then why's blood on your hand?" Shit. "Ahahaha... th-this? Just a small scratch from my clumsiness. And why are you hear, captain?" I need to change the topic asap. "I just wanted to eat something cuz I'm hungry." Luckily he's not so grumpy as he always is. "Should I prepare you something?", I ask without even thinking what it, "n-n-no I-I mean... i-i-if y-"
"Do what you want." Frightened I open my eyes wide. What? "Are ya for real, captain?", I begin to doubt him. He got pretty mad at me. I start to laugh because this behaviour's so unusual. I still cook some egg fried rice with the leftover rice from yesterday for the red hair.
When I'm done cooking, I give him his portion and we quietly eat the food. "You know I absolutly hate liars, right Y/N?", Kid asks me all of a sudden. I almost choked on my food but thanks to a sip of water, I was able to calm down again and nod hesitantly in answer to the question asked by him. "Then why were you lying? Why did you just lie to your own captain?!" "W-When d-d-did I-"
"YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?!! Y/N, why the fuck were ya coughing so much blood??" Oh no. Please no. No no no no. Now I have to tell him. Now he'll know the truth. Shit! He will throw me outta the crew. That's for sure. With a trembling voice I start to say something. Or rather: I wanted to start but I couldn't.
"Ya know my patience is not the biggest? Just tell me already. Can't be that bad." "The truth is..." "CAPTAIN!! THE WAVES LET US REACH THE ISLAND A LOT EARLIER! WE'LL BE THERE IN LESS THAN AN HOUR!" "We'll talk later about this", he hisses and hurries to go back to the ship deck. Meanwhile I inform Boogie and tell him that I really need stronger medicine.
"Y/N, I'm sorry to tell you this but these are the strongest you can get. Unfortunately I'm at my limit with my medicine knowledge." "Then let it be so... that's life. I will continue with my medications and who knows how much longer I can be with you guys." I'm so tired... I need to lay down for a bit. Until we reach the island at least. "Boogie, I sleep a bit. Wake me up when we get there."
An hour goes by and I got some sleep. We all split up and everyone is doing what they're supposed to do. For me it's getting enough food. It would've been nice if someone helped me... "Y/N!", Kid shouts my name out outta nowhere. "Yes captain?" "I'll go with you." "Y-You don't need to-" "Have ya forgotten our conversation? Don't cha dare evade my question from before in any way or lie to me, understood woman?!"
Anxiously, I look left and right to see if anyone can hear us. It wasn't until I could be sure we're undisturbed that I say, "Then let us go to a doctor." "What in the... WHY THE FUCK DO WE-" "Once we get there, you will most likely understand." We explore and are already there after a short time.
I ask the doctor for an examination, which he doesn’t want to perform in the first place, despite the money I wanted to give him. If it weren't for my wonderful and absolutely lovable captain who's threatening to kill him. "I'm afraid to tell you young lady that despite your medications you won't be living much longer. To be honest it's a miracle that you’re still living with such a weak heart." "WHAT IN THE MFING HELL DOES THAT SHIT MEAN?!!" "Captain..." "I'LL CRUSH YOU IF YOU LIE TO ME!"
"S-Sir p-p-please... I-I'm not l-lying..." "Do you get it now?", I ask Kid, "actually I didn't want you to find that out but yeah... that didn't go so well i guess... haha..." I just pull him out of the hospital and explain everything to him in more detail. "So please... don't throw me out. Forgive me for not telling you about my declining health! I was so afraid that you’ll kick me out. Even thinking about it makes me wanna cry..."
Kid says nothing and just stares at me which confused me so much until- "Ouch!" Did he just snap on my forehead? "You fucking moron! I can't believe that you’re so dumb. How could I ever throw you out of my team?" "But I wasn't honest-" "HOW COULD I EVER THROW THE WOMAN I LOVE THE MOST OUTTA MY TEAM, HA??!!" "What...?"
What the fuck just happens...? How- I thought I- "J-Just forget it..." "I won't! I will never forget this. I can't... even if I wanted to cuz I'm also in love with you, Kid."
