Bella'sPOV

So much uncertainty and confusion. My mind seemed to wander on its own accord while I struggled to hang on. So many voices were coming from multiple directions, I didn't know which one to focus on.

The last thing I remember was seeing Edward's widened eyes and then a darkness so profound yet so dream-like, I imagined I was going through some sort of sleep paralysis. But then I remembered the sharp pain that had ran up my side. It was a recognizable pain.. I had been shot before, and it had been worse than what I was experiencing now. Actually, I felt nothing at all. I was numb. So I tried to listen to the voices above me, hoping I'd make sense of this.

"...hold him down. We cannot have him in here!...too dangerous."

"Jasper's fine...atleast the bastard's in custody..insider..we should've known!"

"...she's..hypovolemic shock..apply more pressure! We're only a block away now...immediate blood transfusion.."

"Her BP is increasing..I need two CC's of...stat!"

It was only bits and pieces. I couldn't understand a thing! Who were they holding back? Where were we headed? Who was the insider? What happened to Jasper?

"Bella, honey...you hold on for me,okay? You've been so strong. We're almost there," a soft voice cooed. I felt a tender stroke in my hair as I struggled to open my eyes.

Everything was so blurry. I hardly saw a thing, but it was clear that I was in an ambulance. So we were headed towards the hospital? That made sense. Atleast somethingdid out of all this chaos.

To make matters worse, green eyes kept flashing behind my eyelids. My worry for Edward was reaching its peak. My Edward...where was he?

"Edward.." I croaked.

I was met with silence. The EMT was too busy fumbling around over me.

Everything felt so transcendent and the insistent beeping besides the stretcher I lyed in was like a distant echo in the void my brain was in. The morphine was definitely working its way though my veins. My thoughts were so scattered and inconsistent, I wasn't aware I was being wheeled into the hospital until I heard a frantic voice a few feet away and the sound of feet running on pavement.

"Bella! Oh god - "

The voice was choked by a sob, enrapturing the gruffness with immense grief and worry.

It was the last thing I heard before it all faded away into complete darkness.

My throat ached with thirst but I was limited to simple ice chips, which would suffice. After being released from immediate surgery, I had slept for hours until I was awoken by the quite whispers around me. I was delirious at first, but once I saw those familiar emerald eyes, everything came back to me like a rocky landslide.

I was shot. Someone wanted to kill me.

Edward was adamant at restraining the information I yearned for. He was too preoccupied with my health, but according to my doctor - who coincidentally was Dr.Cullen - the bullet had punctured my right side, totally missing any vital organs. After thorough x-rays, I was classified as lucky and would be released in a matter of days. The pint of blood that had been lose due to the gunshut, along with the adrenaline surging through me, had been the cause to my disorientation. Of course, after some transfusions, I was ready to go. But the whole team was making that extremely hard.

Edward especially. I've been arguing with the man for hours, but he remained obstinate.

"I have a right to know who shot me, Edward!"
