Later that day, I walk to Ms. Thornhills class with Yoko and we sit at the back in our usual seats
"Is it just me... or is Wednesday talking to a plant?" I whisper to her. She looks over at the gothic girl and shrugs
"Nah, that's definitely a person she's talking to" She nods. I laugh and slap her arm
"Thanks for the sarcasm" I roll my eyes and see Bianca walk over to Wednesday "You ready for the Drama?" I smirk, pointing over at them
Yoko and I both lean on our hands and watch it unfold
"I bet you 5 dollars Wednesday puts Bianca in her place" I bet
"You're on" Yoko fist bumps me and we listen in
"I see you finally made a friend" Bianca calls to Wednesday "Even if it is a plant"
"I go for quality over quantity" She replies. Bianca rolls her eyes and walks away
"I win" I taunt. Yoko hands me the money and I shove it in my pocket with a smirk across my face
"Xavier" I whisper to the boy in front. He turns to face me and smiles
"What's up?" He asks
"Can you duck? Your big heads in the way" I wink. He shakes his head and looks at me
"At least you know I have a brain, where's yours?" He asks. I roll my eyes and throw my eraser at him, watching it bounce off his back and land on the floor
"Can you pass that back?" I ask with a smile
"Nope" He replies, popping the p and turning back around
"Please" I groan
"No"
"Fine" I frown. I hover my hand over the table and conjure my magic in my hand.
A pink light forms around the eraser and it flies to my hand so I catch it, putting it back in my bag
"And that's exactly why I didn't get it. You're lazy" He laughs. I put my hand out to him and he puts his hands up in defence
"That's what I thought" I smile. He rolls his eyes and goes back to drawing. I turn to Yoko and we talk for a while before I see Wednesday sit beside Xavier
He pushes his notepad towards her and hovers his hand over it, making the drawing come to life. The spider crawls out of the page and towards the girl. I look with admiration. No matter how many times he did it, it still amazed me
"I doubt Wednesday is impressed by your tricks, Mr. Thorpe" Ms. Thornhill speaks up
"Admit it, you're a little impressed" He smiles. Wednesday looks down at the spider before smacking it with her hand. Laughter sounds around the room and Xavier looks down
"Someone has a crush on the new girl" I whisper to Yoko and we both laugh quietly
"Wednesday, we're thrilled to have you join us" Ms. Thornhill starts "On our journey into the world of carnivorous plants. Now..." She sighs "Who can tell us the name of this beauty?" She asks, referring to the plant at the front
