"Lydia, can you pass me the purple please?" Enid calls. I smile and walk over with the purple, watching as she decorates the window of our room

"Do you think she'll like it?" She asks, turning to face me with a big smile

"I'm sure she will" I nod. I watch as the sun makes its appearance from behind the clouds, shining against the glass causing the colours to glimmer around the room

"I love it!" Enid squeals

A couple minutes later, we sat on Enid's bed as she paints my nails

"I wonder when they'll get here" She sighs. Suddenly, the door opens and Weems walks in

"Speak of the... Devil" My jaw drops when I see the girl and her parents walk in. The mother gasps and looks around the room

"It's so... vivid" The dad states. Enid gets up and runs over

"Howdy, roomie!" She squeals

"Wednesday, this is Enid Sinclair" Weems introduces "And this is Lydia Hudson" She says as I walk over

"Are you feeling okay?" Enid asks Wednesday "You look a little pale"

"Wednesday always looks half-dead" The father nods

"You don't say..." I whisper

"Oh... Welcome to Ophelia hall!" Enid smiles, stretching her arms out to Wednesday and stepping forward. The girl steps back so Enid lowers her arms

"Not a hugger. Got it" She sighs

"Please excuse Wednesday" The mother starts "She's allergic to colour"

"Shit..." I mutter, turning to look at the room and then back at the girl

"Oh, wow... what happens to you?" Enid asks

"I break out into hives and then the flesh peels off my bones" Wednesday states in a monotone voice. Enid's face cringes and she looks at me

I roll my eyes and look at Enid. She really believes that?

"Luckily, we've special ordered you a uniform" Weems cuts in "Enid, Lydia, please take Wednesday to the registrar's office to pick it up along with a copy of her schedule... and give her a tour along the way"

Wednesday turns on her heel and faces her parents before walking past them, out the door. Enid skips after her and I walk out after them. We walk down the stairs of Ophelia hall and make our way into the corridor's, walking down some more stairs

"Nevermore was founded in 1791" Enid starts "to educate people like us"

"Outcasts, freaks, monsters, fill in your favourite marginalised group here" I add with a smile

"You can save the sanitised sales pitch. I don't plan on staying here for long" Wednesday days

"Why not?" Enid frowns

"This was my parents idea. Oh look, there's my mother smirking at me" She states. I look over Enid's shoulder and see Wednesdays mother at the front of the fencing group
