Smiles and crys

Me and Carl wake up early the next morning to his alarm.

"Good morning love" I say rolling out of bed.

"Hey" He says rubbing his eyes, he looks over at the clock and see that it says "3:00am"

"Holy fucking shit" he says and rubs his eyes again.

"Common sleepy head you need to get ready" I say and pull him out of bed.

He gets up and hops in the shower, I go down stairs and find Ian sitting at the table

"What are you doing up so early" I say rubbing his back

"I never slept, but I figured I'd go with you to drop Carl off" he says standing up and making a cup of coffee.

"Want some" he says holding out a mug

"I can't, it's bad for the baby I guess" I say and chuckle.

Then Carl comes down stairs with his hair all done, and in his military uniform.

"Look at you handsome guy, I didn't know you had that" I say giving him a kiss

"Yeah they sent it to me a while back. It's just been sitting in my closet. But y'all ready" he says looking at me and Ian

"Yep" we say at the same time.

We get in the car, Ian sits in the drivers side, and me and Carl both sit in the back. He rest his head on my shoulder, and he grabs my hand and holds it tight.

"Might be the last time we get to have our little moments like these for awhile" carl says as he rubs his thumb on the top of my hand

"It's ok baby, just for a little bit. You need this. I think it's great for you." I say squeezing his hand.

Finally we pull into the bus station. And we see the bus sitting there, with about 15 other guys in military uniforms around it.

I look at my phone and it reads "3:55am"

"5 minutes until it leaves" I say as I get out of the car.

Ian walks over to Carl and gives him a long hug, "good luck brother" Ian says while rubbing his back

"Thanks" carl says back

Then Carl turns around and gives me a long tight hug, so tight I could feel his heart beating.

"I love you so much" he says while still in the hug, "you and our little girl" he says breaking the hug, and rubbing my stomach. "She's getting so big, make sure to send me lots of pictures, and I'll try and FaceTime you when there's doctor appointments" Carl says to me while I see his eyes tear up, "I'm going to miss you, but I need this, I want this." He says as a tear falls from his eyes

"Hey, don't cry, I'll send pictures, and videos, and letters, and maybe you can go to some of the appointments when you have the day to visit. I love you ok." I say and my voice cracks as I let out small sobs

"I love you too" He says and gives me a kiss and one more hug.

Then we hear the bus beep and carl runs to it

"I love you" he yells as he's interning the bus

Me and Ian get in the car and I just break down in tears

"Mya you don't have to cry" Ian says through a laugh "he's coming back in like 4 months, and you can see him once a week. It's not like there's anyone there for him to cheat on you with" he says trying to cheer me up.

"Yea you're right" I say and rest my head on the window

CARL POV-

We finally get off of the bus after 3 hours, it's now 7:00am

We get to our bunks and I start to unpack, I pull out the pictures of me and Mya, and the ultrasound and I see a note. I open it up and see Mya's handwriting

"Dear Carl,
I just want you to know how unbelievably grateful I am for you. You have always been here for me through my toughest times, my highs and lows. Words can't describe how much I would do for you. I'm going to miss you like crazy, even though I know I'll be able to see and talk to you a lot. You're going to kick ass and make 'military school your bitch'. Don't get shot, and don't do anything stupid. You got this one step at a time. You have come a long way since I've met you. You went from wanna be drug lord, to white boy Carl, to now, and I can't wait to keep seeing you grow. Remember, I love you forever. I'll be here for you every single step of the way, I'll be you're biggest fan. I'll be waiting for you at the finish line Gallagher.

I smile and put the note in my pocket, and hang the pictures up.

"Who's the girl" I hear a voice say behind me.

"My fiancé, her name is Mya" I say looking down at the pictures

"Y'all look happy, have one on the way" the guy says pointing the the ultrasound

"Yeah it's a girl" I say smiling at the guy

"Well, congratulations. My name is Sam" He says putting his hand out for me to shake

"I'm Carl, Carl Gallagher" I say shaking his hand
