after a long night of cuddling, maya woke up to the harsh morning sun pricking her eyes, causing her to groan as she pulled the blanket over her face.

"jude could you close the blinds please."

no response.

the bed felt empty.

maya flipped over and saw that no one was sleeping next to her.

"jude?"

immediately her spine sprung up as she jerked herself out of bed. maya quickly reached over the bedside table to check her phone, but when she realised its battery was flat because she had forgotten to plug in the charger, she facepalmed herself in disappointment.

after connecting the charger to her phone, she scratched her forehead while contemplating almost everything. did jude really leave her without a warning? did she dream up his whole apology? did last night even happen?

finally, before she could get carried away by overthinking, the bright apple logo flashed on her phone and then she saw the time.

10:37 am

"fuck i slept in." maya muttered.

7:14 am

good morning baby 💛
i'm at the team hotel
sorry, i had to leave early for training
and i didn't wanna disturb ur sleep
call me when you can?

can't believe my alarm didn't wake me

JUDE IS CALLING... ‼️

"hey darling" jude beamed when he saw maya on his screen.

"hi baby, how was training?"

"oh we haven't started yet. the gaffer only called us in early for introductions and that. but training's at 11."

"oh alright... wait babe who's that behind you?"

mason, jack, trent and bukayo were stood only a few steps behind jude, all of them giggled and pointed at him.

jude whipped around and laughed when he yelled, "you lot are jarring, go away!"

instead they all ignored jude, and ran up to him like a herd of schoolchildren. mason put his arm around jude and asked, "who are you calling fella?"

"oh it's just his friend," jack bantered as he bent over to look at the screen.

"ay watch it." jude nudged jack.

then jude moved his phone so everyone could see her and said, "this is maya kaur. when you boys come to my wedding, she'll be the bride."

maya felt herself melt when he said the word 'bride'. meanwhile the boys jovially cheered  "aww!" altogether.

"hi mrs bellingham, i'm trent." the scouser waved.

"hey maya! i'm here as well," bukayo followed suit and waved too.

maya waved back and smiled, "hi boys! how's it going?"

"yeah we're good," bukayo replies.

"yeah sound," trent smiled and held a thumbs up.

"gassed for the game tomorrow," mason adds.

"good because i'll be there watching. i wanna see all of you score!" maya joked which made the lads giggle.

"don't worry babe, tomorrow i promise i'll score for ya." jude said with pure confidence. "i even wrote your initials on my football boots."

"aww i know you will baby, i have full faith in you."

"oh MK you've got JB whipped!"  jack yelled out, making everyone erupt into laughter.

then maya sees them all turn their heads and listen to a mumbled voice in the distance.

"maya that was our assistant coach, we better go." mason informed.

"alright then, see you guys soon!" maya farewells them all.

jude waited for everyone to wave goodbye before he told maya, "i'll call you later baby, love you."

"okay talk soon, love you!"

jude gives the camera a kiss like he always does.
