After the game, I made an effort to go into the locker room and see Patrick. I figured he want to see me, plus I wanted to congratulate him on his 'beaut of a goal.As I was walking into the locker room, I spotted him talking to a few interviewers, and decided to walk over.
"Did you know you were going to score that goal?"
"How do you feel about it?"
"Who was it for?"
"We saw you point at someone after scoring, does she mean anything?"These were just a few questions that the reporters were asking him when I walked over. He looked around and his eyes caught my sight and he was looking directly at me.
"The goal was for someone really special too me. I promised her a goal and I don't ever disappoint. Now if you'll excuse me." He responded and left the big croud.
Patrick grabbed my hand and pulled me into another room, all before I could process what had just happened. The room was dark and smelled faintly of sweat and perseverence. It was the blackhawks training room.
"So?" He asked.
"I, I um.. uh-" I started, before was interupted by the pressing of his lips on mine. Although they tasted a bit salty, the kiss was soft and passionate.
"Well that was a good way to put it." I said, once we stopped kissing.
He smiled and interlocked our fingers. "I've liked you for a long time you know Dani, I just was never brave enough to tell you."
I smiled up at him and said, "I've liked you too."
"So does this mean we're you know, a thing now? He asked me, looking down with hopeful eyes. His beautiful blue eyes were staring right into mine and I didn't want to look away.
"I don't know. I don't think Jonny would approve." I said, looking down. As if on cue, a knock on the door sounded and Jonny said,
"Kaner you in there? We're gonna start celebrating a good first game." He said, turning the door knob.
Of course it was Jonathan. He ruins everything.
"Go!" I whispered, and shoved him into a nearby closet, and he banged his head.
"OW!" He yelled.
And then Jonny opened the door.
"Oh, Dani.. I thought Kane came in here..." He said, suspiciously.
"I um, uh no he's not in here." I said in a high pitched voice. Hopefully he couldn't tell that I was lying straight to his face.
"Okay..."
-Later on-
"So Dani, after you left the room, Kane came out of the closet." Jonny told me as we walked from the United Center to our car.
"Wait like, he told you he was gay?" I asked, surprised. What?
"No, Dani, he walked out of the closet in the room, looking pretty suspicious."
"Oh, um, I didn't know he was in there." I lied.
"Well I don't want you to hang around him Dani, he doesn't have a very good past, and I don't want you getting hurt."
Everyone knew about Kane's past. It wasn't a new story. The partying, one night stands, and the countless short-term relationships. I knew he had changed. He wasn't the same guy. Or was he? I didn't need that Kane in my life. He'd ruin it.
I sighed and spoke quietly. "I won't."
I would do what it took not to not fall in love with that boy. But it was hard. I couldn't get him out of my head.
