Bailey's POV
"I love you Bailey Peters." I freeze.
He loves me. He actually loves me.
Should I say it back?
What if he doesn't mean it?
What if he said it, but then when I say it he thinks I'm being to forward?
Maybe I'm overthinking things.
All of the players on the team seem to be waiting for me to say something back. My cheeks turn bright red.
"I- uh- I," I can't seem to get the words out. When the tears threaten to fall I run off the field.
"Wait! Bailey!" I hear him yell.
Faintly I hear another player respond to him saying, "Face it dude, she's gone."

"All I'm saying is that if he gets that mad at me for this, what will he get mad at me for in the future?" I say to Jordan, tears streaming freely down my face.
"Maybe you two weren't meant to be. Since you started talking to him you've cried more than ever. Between him and Chelsea, you've been a wreck."
"I know." I say quietly.
Jordan and I attempt to watch a movie, but me being on edge made the session into a show of waterworks.
"Shh. It's okay Bailey. You'll find someone better. Who will realize when you're sad, who always stands up for you, who accepts you, someone who will love you, and I know you will return the love to him."
"What's wrong with me Jordan? If he's so bad for me why do I love him so much?!?"
"That's love for you," Jordan shrugs, "It's beautiful like a fairy tale, then suddenly it's poison. Sometimes it ends up having a cure and you go on like nothing happened, or sometimes the loves slowly dies."
"How do you know Jordan? You've only ever had one boyfriend, and it was when we were little."
"I spend way to much time on the internet." She says smiling.

The next few days, with Jordan's help, I was able to avoid Kyle altogether. The only time I ever made eye contact with him was at practice.
"In the next few weeks you and an assigned partner are going to have to read 'The Giver' and write a report on the meaning." Really? I'm pretty sure we read The Giver in middle school. Of course not everyone understood it. Most people thought that it was boring and stupid.
"Now for your partners. Will and Henry, Tanya and Jim, Dan and Phil, Louise and Zoe, Bailey and Kyle, Zachary and Frank, and Casper and Joe. Good luck, you are dismissed."
No. I can't work with Kyle!
"Mr. Evans! Do you think that I could switch partners? Me working with Kyle might be a slight problem."
"Sorry Miss Peters but I can't just switch everyone around for you. Besides aren't you to dating?" Mr. Evans says, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Um, honestly I don't know."
"Oh well sorry to hear that. But really I can't just switch everyone around for you."
"I understand sir."
I walk out of the class room to be greeted by Jordan.
"Bathroom, quick!" She whisper-shouts at me.
Hurriedly, I run to the bathroom, directly behind Jordan.
Once we arrive Jordan starts talking immediately, "I heard a rumor that Kyle was going to meet you outside of Mr. Evans' classroom immediately after class, and I didn't want to let you do through that, so I came and got you as soon as possible."
"I really appreciate it Jordan, you're a great friend." I say genuinely.
"I know."
We hide out in the bathroom until almost everyone has left the school. Occasionally getting strange looks from people coming in and out.
Thank goodness practice was canceled today.
My phone started buzzing. It's a text. From none other than Kyle.
I know you're ignoring me, and I will make it up to you, somehow.
