Amy Rose's POV

My cheeks felt heated, but I chose to ignore it. Hopefully they didn't notice either. I watched Fiona grab her notepad and pen again, fixing herself to get ready to jot down some things. "So, tell me. What would y'all like for today?" She asked, again. "I'd like a cupcake, and coffee with lots of creamer." I ordered. Sonic looked at me like I was crazy, slightly tilting his head while his eyebrow just slightly raised a bit higher from the other. Fiona would write my order down, before turning towards Sonic. "And what about you, Sonic?" She asked him. "Coffee, but not as much as creamer like pinky over here." He explained while pointing his thumb at him, rolling my emerald orbs. "Whatever," I said, hearing him chuckle afterwards. "And... some chocolate chip cookies. Warm, fresh ones though. I like it when they melt on the inside." Sonic finished saying with a small wink. For once, Sonic was acting like himself again. Even if for a moment, I would rather him be like this than sad and unease. Fiona ignored his comment, writing down his order. "Will that be all for you two?" She made sure, looking at us one final time. We nodded. "Alright. I'll be right back with your orders." She told us before walking off. I sighed softly with relief, turning back towards Sonic. I'm glad they didn't notice me being flustered earlier. Or at least I thought they didn't. As soon as I looked back at Sonic and opened my eyes, he was staring at me with a small smirk across his lips. His head resting into his hand as his elbow propped up his arm onto the table. "Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, just because. You didn't think I'd notice you blushing, did you?" Shoot. I guess he did. I just rolled my eyes, looking out of the window. I felt my cheeks heat up again, just slightly slumping into my spot. "It was just hot. That's all." "After she called us a couple? Come on, Ames." "Yes, after she said we were a couple. Like who'd even have the audacity to say that?" "So... you were mad?" "What? No- That's- That's not what I'm saying." Sonic just slightly laughed, shaking his head as he smiled at me.

"So you were blushing." He stated, before looking at him in the corner of my eye. "Maybe." I admitted. "I knew it. It's OK to be flustered around me. I know, I'm very flattering." teased Sonic. I finally looked at him. "Whatever!" I slightly whined. The more I did give him the reaction he wanted, the more he found it hilarious. The silence fell in between us so easily moments after, before I decided that I'd break that silence by wanting to bring up about what had happened last night. Before the explosion had happened. "So uh, Sonic." "Hm?" "About last night.. before the disaster happened." I nervously began saying. "The thing with you and... Sonic?" Before I continued, I noticed that he was no longer listening to me. His attention was brought to a nearby tv right behind me. I was confused, but when I looked back and looked up at the TV, the news was on. They were talking about Mobius Cookout. "Reporting live Mobius' New Channel." The woman on the other side of the screen begins to speak. "We are here today with exciting news. The owner of Mobius Cookout and a variety of people had decided to help rebuild the damage the explosion had inflicted on it." The news lady explained, the camera being fixated on the people hammering and working on the side of the cookout that got blown up. "The owner had even announced to make a small memorial regarding the loss of one of Mobius' innocent citizens, Cole Robinson, inside the building. He will be missed, but never forgotten." It was nice to see people still have hope. It was also nice to see people fix the loss Mobius lost that night. The TV sound started to blur in the background now after Fiona approached our table once again, holding a tray of our drinks and food. Her attention was momentarily being fixated on the table as well. "Ain't that sweet of them to do such a thing. It'd be nice to see the cookout be fixed and running again." She commented, before looking back at the tray in her hands and began to place down our ordered food and drink onto the table in front of us.

I brought my attention back to Sonic and Fiona instead of the TV. I watched Sonic look up at Fiona as she temporarily placed the tray beside her instead. "Do you think the next time you see Scourge, you can ask him to go to my place for some help on something?" Sonic had asked her. "Sure. I don't mind. Will that be all for you two today?" She asked to make sure one final time. I nodded. "Yes, thank you." "Enjoy." She said before walking away for good this time. "Now, what were you saying before I got distracted?" He asked me before looking back at me, picking up his coffee to briefly blow on it before taking a sip. I cleared my throat, gently pushing my cup of coffee to the side as I rested my hands onto the table. "Well... about last night." "Uh huh?" "About you and..." I started to speak, but I paused half way after I noticed someone that was familiar passing by the window. It was Sally. I watched her walk down the entire street until she reached the end of it, watching her stop momentarily until she was able to walk across the street safely. I then brought my attention back to Sonic, or at least I thought so. The moment I turned around, he was gone. I briefly looked around the entire place, standing up before turning around and noticing the doors of the entrance of the cafe swinging back and forth until they'd slowly come to a complete stop. That's when I realized he had run out. I was speechless, feeling my heart drop just slightly with disappointment. I sat back down, staring into the reflection my coffee made of me. I didn't even feel hungry nor thirsty anymore. An hour passed, and I was still at the cafe. I didn't move an inch from my seat. Fiona walked over to me, her purse resting onto her shoulder as her hand rested on top of it. "Amy, are you OK? You've been here for an hour now. Alone, for that matter." She asked as I slowly raised my head to look up at her.
