chapter seven !(I took this chapter down and totally changed it, so if you've read it before, thank you sm btw, and are confused that's why.)
Beth's POV
CW - Mature language, mentions of blood, death.
I AM COMPLETELY FROZEN, terrified that if I move barely an inch I'll end up dead. My palms have become sweaty, and the tins I am holding slip from my bare hands, cutting the tension that fills the room like ice. The can falls right onto my right foot, and I flinch in slight pain and without thinking go to nurse it.
"I said don't move!" His breath is fire against my neck and it burns. The gun is somehow pressed harder against the back of my head. His breath reeks of cigarettes and I can feel the harshness of his beard against my neck he is that close.
My throat has gone dry but I take a deep breath and find my voice, "you can have the food, you can have whatever you want. Please, just put your gun down." I croak. I try to keep my voice as still as possible and I don't look at him as I say this, my gaze directed straight in front of me as I try to stay calm.
He snorts so loud, it's as if this is the funniest thing he has ever heard in his life. "And tell me," He grabs my face in his filthy hands and holds it so tight I'm scared my jaw will break. "Why would I listen to a pathetic little shit like you?"
I wince. He spits as he speaks, and I can feel it trickle down my face like tears. My breath catches in my throat and I feel as if I can't breath. I close my eyes and I pray that he dosent notice my shaking body.
He comes closer to my face, I can hear his heavy breaths and feel them on my face. He is about to say something else when light boots trudge into the cabin. I open my eyes and look over the mans shoulder to see a boy, this one much younger than the man pressing a gun to my head, he looks to be a couple years younger than me.
The man has his back turned towards the boy, who holds a baseball bat in his right hand, and hasn't noticed his presence yet.
The boy silently makes his way over to the man, but as he does so, the floorboards beneath him creak, making a loud noise and marking his presence.
The man whips around so fast but the boy is quicker. He raises the bat in his hand and hits the man across the head.
Blood splatters on my face and all over my clothes, I can taste it on my lips and feel it trickle down my face. The grip he once had on me releases and he falls to the ground with a loud thud. I gasp, completely frozen and afraid to move.
I stare at the boy in utter shock, but also utter gratefulness. The fact he dosent even know me and just saved my life.
He takes a step over to me, cautious.
"Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" His eyes are kind.
"No, no he didn't hurt me, but if you didn't do what you did he would have. I don't know what to say."
"You don't need to say anything. I was with him, he's a total prick. Everyone back at the camp hated him. He made everyone's lives hell."
We stand in awkward silence. I wipe the blood from my cheek.
The boy puts down his bag and grabs the man's legs. "Let's put him outside, around the back of the cabin."
I grab his shoulders and we carry him outside, placing his body behind the cabin.
As I do so, I see a single walker up ahead and go to kill it, but the boy gets there first, using his gun he shoots the lone walker.
I am confused as to why he used his gun for just one walker, but it dosent matter now, its done.
The boy follows me back inside.
"Have you got a camp?"
"I did."
He stares at me blankly and raises his brow.
"It got attacked, went up in flames. Too many lives lost."
"I'm sorry to hear, we're there many of you?"
"Yeah, alot of us."
"Where are they now?"
"I don't know."
Silence.
"Do you have a camp?"
"Yes, I'm actually on a supply run right now. I'm James by the way."
"Beth, beth greene."
"So your on your own beth?"
"Yes."
He hesitates for a moment. "We have a camp, me and my brother Devon. I suppose you could say he is sort of the leader of our group. There's a few of us, met after everything happened and have stayed together ever since."
I nod in response. I hear something coming towards the cabin and look out through the open cabin window. A horde. A huge horde coming our way.
James follows my gaze and curses under his breath. "The gunshot, they heard it. We gotta go."
James heads outside and returns with a rucksack, he swings open the cupboard containing the canned food and I help him to empty the cupboards contents into his bag.
He takes a knife out of the front pocket of the bag, handing it to me. "Aim for the head."
He puts the bag on his back and heads outside. I follow him closely behind.
He runs towards the walkers and starts killing them, I do the same. One by one, but there is so many of them. I turn to James and he is struggling to fight back aswell.
"Come on, we need to go back, there's too many for us to handle."
I grab his arm and run back towards the cabin.
Closing the door behind me James helps to push the book shelf against the door. I silently pray that it will hold.
We push ourselves against the door as best we can to hold the bookshelf up.
We are trapped, and all we can do now is wait.
