Warning: descriptions of murder, blood, creepy old men

###

Bob drove you home again tonight, and it feels like you've gotten closer in the past couple of months. You've been living in the town of Norsville for around seven months now, working for Bob for just under six. You wave to him as he leaves your driveway, honking at you twice as he pulls out. It's become part of your routine to get driven home by Bob after he closes up.

As you walk inside and lock the door, you look at the time. 9:30 PM. You have enough time to rest for a bit. But after that...

It would be time to hunt.

You lay down on your couch in your home clothes, the feeling of excitement making you restless. How long has it been since you've done this? Almost seven months? It's been so long! You wonder if you've gotten rusty, you haven't done any practice yet. Maybe you should've. Hmm... Perhaps you should've searched up a few new recipes too, you remember getting tired of plain old soup, even though it's the best purifying method. Maybe you can cook something new, like a steak! Oh! Bob loves steaks! He would probably be so happy if you served him a steak similar to his-

Pause.

You stop thinking for a moment, your mind going blank. That's right. Bob. Bob is different from your... candidates. He's super nice to you, makes you food, takes care of you, and could barely hurt a fly! He's an average human being.

So why does he make you feel this emotion?

It's hard to explain, but it's easy too! With Bob, you feel the adrenaline rush you have when purifying your victims. It makes your heart beat, your smile grow, and you feel happy. Is that what this emotion was? Joy?

No... it can't be. You knew joy, you could describe it easily. You reminisce back to when you were at your old house, living with your parents. Joy was when your mother gave you a new toy for your birthday, or when your father would hold you after a rough day. They used the same word... but you can't seem to remember it!

Anyway, that's not the way Bob makes you feel. Joy is a part of the thing you feel, but it's not the whole emotion. Bob makes you feel pleasant, something warm and fuzzy blossoming inside you when he smiles at you with the smile he has reserved for you. Joy was what you felt when Bob laughs at something you did, or something you said. He makes your cheeks red when he calls you a pet name, he makes your smile grow wider when he makes you food to show he cares, and your heart beats faster whenever he hugs you. He makes you feel like you ate butterflies, said butterflies fluttering in your stomach and in your heart.

What is this intense emotion?!

Before you can delve even further into your thinking, the alarm you set for yourself rings. 10:30 PM.

Alright, you think to yourself as you sit up, it's time to get going.

You don your costume and head out.
