WIND BLEW BETWEEN their hair as they stared over the deep blue sea. The water was loud against the boat and the platters of jumping fish sprung through the air.

"Drink?" Her husband held a champagne glass out to her. She scoffed taking the glass and pouring the liquid down her throat.

She held the glass back out to him. "I still can't believe it," she shook her head. "My whole life mother never could face her wrongs. She even went as far as to not tell me that she was sick and dying," Elara pushed off the rail of the boat.

"But hey at least she died in paradise?" Elara shrugged and looked down at the stroller next to her.

Hope was in her stroller kicking her feet. "Time to go," she said pushing Hope's stroller as the boat stopped back at the docks.

The family flew out to the Bahamas for her mother's "pre-planned funeral". Two days before, she got the call that her mother had died of brain cancer.

Of course, Elara assumed they had the wrong number because her mother hadn't said anything about cancer, but alas it was true. So she booked the next flight out and sat through her mother's funeral...on the beach.

It was the weirdest experience of her life, but apparently, it was all as Elaine wished.

"Klaus! Hurry up!" She honked the horn, leaning out of the window. He slammed the trunk shut, "shut up! You're giving me a migraine," he said as he got into the car and slammed the door.

Hope started crying and the loud sound. "Look what you did, asshole. Just drive," she leaned against the window with her head in her hand. The man mumbled to himself, starting the car.

She looked up and spotted a billboard with an overly happy woman the words 'the place where dreams come true' printed next to her.

The amount of money she'd pay to have that woman and her stupid smile erased from the face of the earth.

This was not a dream.

"My mom is dead," she whispered shutting her eyes. Klaus reached over, placing his hand over hers. She opened her hand, intertwining their fingers. "I'm sorry for yelling at you," she looked at him. "And calling you an ass. You are, but you can't help it so I'm sorry."

He chuckled and lifted their hands to lay a kiss on hers. "She was proud of you," he told her. Elara nodded knowing his words were true, but she couldn't get past how she didn't tell her the truth.

"I just wish she told me."

"I know. I'm sorry."

They drove to the airport and got on their flight back home.

Elara was kind of dreading going home. Their home was quiet now. With Klaus and Elijah at odds and no Rebekah, things were quite boring in their house.
