"dad..." he started. "have you been killed... someone?"

his dad suddenly frowned on his question, jaemin is now with his dad and they decided to talk in the garden. no one was around, even the guards, jaemin told them to give privacy and they did.

"of course, son. a lot of wars have already happened." his dad said.

"no, i mean. the human, dad." jaemin said. "the normal person."

the smile on his face faded away, jaemin is now getting nervous after seeing how his father's smile slowly faded away.

"it is five years ago, dad?" jaemin asked.

"son, i'm not ready to tell it—"

"dad, please?" jaemin immediately cuts him off, still maintaining his soft voice. "i need to know it."

his dad stared at him, trying to know why his son suddenly asked about it. looking away, he let out a sigh and nodded. maybe he will finally tell it to his son. the only reason that is stopping him is because he still can't accept that his wife died.

he still can't move on.

"five years ago when our enemies held normal ones," he started. "they held a lot of people, it almost made the kingdom surrender but your mother told me not. we will fight and we will save the hostages. the others were saved, they completely left the universe but the others not. all of us are busy fighting, trying our best to defeat them. i was busy saving someone else, i was busy saving those normal people."

"i save them but my wife, your mother... i failed to save her." he continued, his voice suddenly cracked and jaemin started to tear up now as he saw how his father was trying to hold back his tears. "your mother tried her best to save those couples but in the end, they still died... son, your mother died while saving them..."

"she tried her best, she almost did it, she almost saved them and brought them out from the portal but she failed." and he finally burst out crying. "i felt so useless that time, i was busy saving someone else but i failed to do it to my wife."

"dad..." jaemin said and went closer towards him, giving him a hug. "you and mom did all your best..."

"that couple... that your mother saved..." he continued. "it was the lee couple, your mother and i used to meet them when we visited the world. we owe them a lot but..."

"shh, mom tried their best to save them. no one should be blamed here," jaemin said.

"there is, son." his father said. "i'm the king yet i didn’t even do anything to save my kingdom, to save the people, to save my wife. i was scared and weak."

jaemin didn’t speak anymore and just hugged his father. he might be keeping all of that for the whole five years. it might be hard for his father.

even jaemin, he still can't accept that his mother died. his mother is now a hero for him, she died while saving someone else. his father is also a hero for jaemin. he tried his best to save people and defeat the enemies even though he lost the person he loved the most.

jaemin was about to let go of the hug when his eyes met someone. tears were falling from his cheeks but he immediately wiped it off. he was about to leave but jaemin called him.
