chapter sixteen

"good morning, dad."

jaemin greeted as he arrived at the dining area. he leaned closer to his dad who was busy checking the papers even though he was eating. the father smiled at him and gave him a peck of kiss.

"you don't sleep again," his dad said.

"when did the doctors sleep, dad?" jaemin asked, chuckling.

"have you already eaten? come on, join me." he said softly.

"i already did, dad." he smiled. "why are you still working? eat your food first, dad." he scolded.

"as if you were not used to this," his father said. "i need to finish this early, my son. haechan's wedding is already coming and i promised to be there, that's why i'm finishing this." he smiled.

"okay, don't forget to take a rest, dad." jaemin said.

"you too, son." he giggled.

jaemin just let out a chuckle and shook his head. he left the dining area afterwards and made his way upstairs. he was already tired from work, he almost stayed at the hospital though.

luckily, he finally has time to rest. he filed a one month leave and luckily, it was granted. he will really give this time to his best friend who is now getting married.

"finally," he whispered. "i miss you!" he said happily and jumped in bed.

jaemin didn’t even take long to fall asleep, he almost didn’t sleep for days now since he got busy at work. well, what do he expect at the main hospital in the north.

yes, jaemin is now a doctor. almost five years have passed, there's a lot of things have happened and changed. jaemin focuses on his work but he doesn't forget to make time for his friends and family. 

just like what he did right now, one of his friends, haechan, is going to get married in a few weeks from now. the venue is on another side since haechan and mark decided to get married in the world first, well, haechan already lived there though.

they were not the first ones who got married among jaemin's friends, the first one are renjun and yangyang, followed by chenle and jisung. haechan and mark are the last one. and of course, jaemin attended all their weddings.

also expecting someone to be there but he didn’t see him.

now that it's haechan's wedding, which is the prince of south, jaemin's father decided to also attend the wedding. but jaemin had to go there first because of haechan's party. well, it's a party where mark and haechan had to celebrate separately.

and jaemin didn’t inform them that he will attend haechan's party, he knows that haechan is probably mad at him right now since he didn’t even give them any assurance that he will attend the party. all of his friends are currently staying in the world, that's why jaemin freely does whatever he wants.

"take care," the father said. "your heart." he said teasingly, smirking.

"dad!" jaemin hissed.

the father just laughed at him and gave him another hug before jaemin had finally left.

"it's been a year..." he whispered.
