Quick A/N: *(speech)* is mumbling (a bit like Deku does)

Year 20XX - Aged 14

Ever since that day, Y/N's mother kept as true to her word as possible, only allowing Hitoshi to see his brother and father a couple times a year, treating them like strangers rather than family.

All Y/N knew of his brother was the fact he suffered similarly in school, bullies constantly teased them both. For Hitoshi it was due to his 'villainous' quirk, and for Y/N it was due to his quirklessness. The teasing served as fuel for Y/N to attempt to achieve his goal of getting into UA and changing society's view on people like him.

For the last four years, he had been determined to find a way into the hero course. As a result he had been going to the gym every other day to help improve his physical strength, and doing ballet, ice skating and dance to improve balance and flexibility. Most importantly, he had also been working on a tech device he could use to simulate a quirk, without success.

At this moment in time, he was in his dad's garage, trying to build a backpiece for this fake quirk. He was trying to create it so it would connect to his nervous system to access the tech using his brain for easier control.

A knock was heard at the door "Hey Y/N, can I come in? I've brought you some cookies, they're fresh out the oven" his father's voice was heard.

He immediately responded "Of course! No need to ask dad, it's not like I'm doing anything secretive in here" to which his father chuckles, entering the garage and placing the cookies on the table beside them.

"I know, I know, I just don't want my shirt to be set on fire again" the young teenager felt himself sweatdrop as he recollected the events. "Anyways, how's it going? Any luck?" His father continued.

"Nope" Y/N responded, popping the 'p', "and I've still got to fix the code to ensure it all works from this little makeshift device. And then I have to find a way for it to be controlled by my brain activity too" at this, Y/N's father could see his son's dejected mood.

He stood up and put his hand on his son's head and rubbed his hair, "I know you'll get it, don't give up" at that he excused himself back into the house and left his son alone once again in the garage to work on the devices.

Turning back to the trinket on the table, Y/N got back to work with a cookie in his mouth. He decided it was getting nowhere with the design so he started to work on the code while connecting the makeshift hologram device to the laptop. He started typing away and browsing the web for areas in which he got stuck.

Finally happy with the results, he went to activate the program to hopefully access a holographic touchscreen, which lead to an error message on the screen. He stopped the program and tried to debug the code.

After 28 minutes of mini changes in the code without success, he finally found the source of all his problems... A single semicolon was missing at the end of one of his lines... He wanted to die right there and then.

After correcting the code, he started the program once more. The hologram lit up and the YouTube homepage showed (he thought it would be nice to watch something when it finally worked).  Now for the moment of truth, he went to press on a video and it finally worked to which Y/N started yelling and jumping all around in pure joy which caused his father to rush into the garage in a panic but soon followed his son in celebration.

Y/N Shinsou had just successfully created an interactive hologram, part one of phase one of getting into UA was now complete.

~ Timeskip - five months later~

The first prototype of his cybernetic spinal graft, CSG for short, was complete, exactly a year before his UA entrance exam. Ecstatic, he rushed to try it out and see if all the features worked.

The CSG consisted of the spinal plate, two connected gloves and a headpiece. The spinal plate is the motherboard of the tech, contains the code and is the main power source, which, if needed, will charge using the ATP reduction reactions in the body. The gloves are used to project the holograms and interact with them. There are wires connecting the spine piece and the gloves which he hopes to somehow connect without said wires. The headpiece is the final part of the tech, which detects brain waves and passes them onto the spinal piece and into the gloves, again using wiring. The headpiece is also used like a headset and can transmit information into the brain without anyone spying on it.

Placing the spinal graft onto his back, it clasped onto his spine and he could feel the large needles stabbing into his back for support and connectivity. He put on the gloves which also 'injected' themselves into his skin but weren't as painful. Finally he added the head piece, the hair made it difficult to do but he eventually got it on. Unlike the other pieces, it didn't necessarily connect with needles, rather it uses a controlled shock technology to connect to the brain and some hooks to stay attached to the head.

Turning the cybernetic spinal graft on, the LEDs engraved into it started to glow a F/C colour along with some LEDs also on his gloves. He added these as an indicator as to when the tech is working and if it malfunctions.

When all was ready, he tried to open a blank tab on Google chrome, which worked. He then started typing into it and opened up YouTube, clicking on a song called Odo. The sound also worked successfully. He then tried to open the other side of the tech, the side which will help him achieve his goal, the 'hacking' side.

After opening the program, he turned to a robotic toy and started typing on the hexagonal shaped buttons on the hologram, successfully hacking the robot and controlling it's movements.

"DAD! DAD!" he started yelling into the house "YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT! IT ACTUALLY WORKS!" his dad started running from the kitchen into the garage to see his son with the tech he'd been making on him, successfully controlling that robot. A part of him was quite upset at this, upset that his son had to make himself cyborg-like to fit into society, but he pushed those emotions down and just smiled at the victory dance his son was doing.

"Wow! That's absolutely amazing! How about we go out for dinner to celebrate? We can go wherever you want" this caused Y/N to beam even brighter since eating out was a rare treat "thank you! Can we go to (favourite restaurant)?" "of course, I've got to finish some stuff but afterwards we can be on our way" saying this, he left the garage, slightly worried of what dangers this tech may have.

~ Another Timeskip - a few hours later ~

Y/N and his father were sitting in the restaurant, Y/N looked as if he was just told he was going to Disneyland by how happy he was.

After ordering (favourite food), Y/Ns dad turned to him, "so, what's the next step with this? I know you must have a shit-ton of ideas for this CSG?" wrong thing to ask

"Yes! I have a bunch of ideas! I want to be able to hack people *maybe I can hack the nervous system so I can control them like puppets or try to erase quirks temporarily* and then I want to be able to enhance my own abilities! Wait! Maybe I can try invisibility or teleportation! How would I do that? *If I create a device which allows me to change to it's location.. that might work? I'll need to test stuff with the mini version*. And then I.." "okok! You've got a bunch of ideas" Y/Ns father chuckled "remember if you need any help from you old man, you just need to ask.

Y/N started to feel himself get a bit flustered from embarrassment as he realised how much he was rambling on about the possibilities of the tech. "Yea, thanks dad, I appreciate it"

A/N: second chapter done! Next chapter will be the entrance exam for UA. I would like to mention that constructive criticism is appreciated! I'm new to writing and I'm more of a sciency person than an artsy person so I appreciate any advice I can get :)
